APOLONIA (PLONY) RUIGROK July 21, 1929 - July 5, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Plony, on July 5 at St. Boniface Hospital. Plony was predeceased by her mother and father Christine and Leonardus Schenkeveld, her sister Mary, brothers, Martin, Cornie and Frank, sisters-in-law, Louise, Betsie and Riek and brothers-in-laws, Sam and Wim. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Kees, her son Len, daughter Sandy, grandsons, Jason, Christopher and Jesse, sisters, Toos (John) and Mieke and sisters-in-law, Ann and Joy, as well as many nieces and nephews. Plony was born in Den Hoorn, Holland and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1952. A year later she married the love of her life, Kees and they were blessed with 65 years together. Plony was a devoted wife and mother and spent many of the early years with her husband and children camping and travelling back to Holland to visit family. She was an amazing seamstress and loved to cook and entertain with friends and family. She was a faithful member of her church and was a longterm member of the Catholic Women's League. A funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of Victory Parish, 249 Arnold Avenue, Winnipeg on July 11, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow immediately after the service at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of St. Boniface Hospital (4B) for the care and love Plony received during her stay. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made on behalf of Plony to Our Lady of Victory Parish or a charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Deepest sympathies to Uncle Casey, the Ruigrok and Schenkeveld families in the loss of my Aunty Plony. Great memories of my time spent with her and Uncle growing up and being such an important part of mine and our whole family's life. From the lunch visits together with Mr. and Mrs. Westra, after-school time, good advice/lessons and even teaching me some dutch (yes, some of these words can even be used in church), I will continue to cherish my time and memories with Aunty Plony. May you rest in peace. Sincerely,Charlene Koniak (Glenn), Brian and Irene Koniak (longtime neighbours and dear friends of Plony and Kees Ruigrok) - Posted by: Charlene Koniak (Friend of the family) on: Jul 10, 2018

  • My deepest condolences to the Ruigrok family. I have pleasant memories of Plony sitting at my grandparent's house enjoying a cup of tea with them on many occasions. Also their loyal attendance at OLV and their fellowship & friendship to everyone there. My prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Diane (Hoite & Ike/Ida's granddaughter). - Posted by: Diane Westra-Hanaback (Friend) on: Jul 10, 2018
