Date of Passing: Jul 07, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD JANCZYK It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Uncle Edward Janczyk on July 7, 2018. Left to cherish his memory are numerous nieces and nephews here in Winnipeg and in Poland. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna in 1986. He was also predeceased by one brother and three sisters. Uncle was born in Dobron, Poland on August 17, 1920. Our uncle joined the Polish Armed Forces at the outbreak of the Second World War. He fought with General Anders Polish Army. The war took him across Europe into the U.S.S.R. and the Middle East. He fought at the famous battle of Monte Cassino in Italy. After the war he immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg where he met and married his wife, Anna. They bought a house in the North End and made their home on Stella Avenue for many years. We remember raiding his raspberry bushes and of Uncle digging up new potatoes for us from his large garden which he enjoyed caring for. Uncle worked for Canada Packers for over 30 years. Not long after Anna's death he sold his house and moved into the Polish manor on Selkirk Avenue where he had many friends. Due to failing health he became a resident of Holy Family Home. The family greatly appreciates all the support and care the staff provided Uncle until his death. We will cherish the many fond memories we had of him and will greatly miss our Wujek. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 13, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Polish National Church, 365 Burrows Avenue. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Polish National Cemetery.
