Born: Aug 06, 1947
Date of Passing: Jul 14, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAURETTE ROY (nee GOSSELIN) August 6, 1947 - July 14, 2018 During the night of July 14, 2018, Laurette said goodbye to her beautiful earthly life and followed the road to eternity. The passing of Laurette Roy (nee Gosselin) will leave a tremendous loss in the life of her husband of 53 years, Louis, as well as her children and grandchildren: Muriel and her sons, Matthieu (Natalie) and Jocelyn Collette; Brigitte et Alain Rémillard and their children, Joëlle, Jacques (Christine) and Zoé; Yvan and his children, Jici and Marielle; Jean-Paul and Brenda and their children, Zéphir and Amélie. Laurette was predeceased by her parents, Antoine and Irma (nee Clement), her sister Emilienne, her brother Hervé, her parents-in-law, Antonio and Marie-Louise (nee Proulx) as well as many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Laurette grew up in St. Malo, MB surrounded by a large family who was, for her, a constant source of happiness, joie de vivre and love. In 1965 she married Louis and the large Roy family embraced her with the same happiness, joie de vivre and love as her own family did. In 1973, Louis and Laurette moved to St. Jean-Baptiste and undertook the running of their own grocery store. Laurette worked there for many years and eventually took a position as a teacher's aide at the elementary school. Over 18 years, she worked with many students with learning difficulties where she was equally appreciated and respected by the students, teachers and other aides whom she worked with. She formed many wonderful friendships with her colleagues. Laurette greatly enjoyed her retirement years spending many winters in Arizona and taking trips to Switzerland, Alaska, China, Mexico, Hawaii and Canada from coast to coast. She rejoiced in her 'happy hours' with her friends in St. Jean as well as in Kenora. She loved being at the lake enjoying a glass of wine in her gazebo or spending time in the boat, fishing. Unfortunately, over the last 18 months, Laurette was forced to master a new routine; that of following a schedule for chemotherapy. This she undertook with no complaint. 'It is what it is' became her new motto. The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses and Dr. Woelk at CancerCare Boundary Trails and the nurses and Dr. Toews at CancerCare Steinbach for the wonderful care and attention given to Laurette. She always referred to you as 'her nurses' demonstrating the sense of belonging and safety she felt around you. Funeral services will be held at the St. Jean-Baptiste Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. with a PowerPoint presentation preceding the service at 4:00 p.m. Inurnment to follow immediately after mass in the Columbarium in the parish cemetery. If friends so desire, sympathy wishes can be offered through a donation to the CancerCare program at Boundary Trails Health Centre or the CancerCare program at Bethesda Regional Health Centre. Arrangements Entrusted to: Morris Funeral Home 204-746-2451 www.morrisfuneralhome.ca
