THELMA JEANETTE CHARTRAND March 4, 1947 - July 18, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our dearest sister, Thelma Jeanette at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB on July 18, 2018. Thelma was predeceased by her parents, Louis (November 1981) and Harriet Chartrand (April 2013), as well as her brother Albert (June 2009). Thelma lived in Lundar, MB most of her life but moved to Winnipeg in 2002 to be closer to family and her mom Harriet who had lived at FDL Personal Care Home. Thelma leaves to mourn her remaining five sisters who all loved her dearly: Rose Steinke, Doris Senuira (Mike), Alice Chartrand, Margaret Thorsteinson (Art) and Lillian Barker, along with her sister-in-law Sharon Chartrand. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who loved their "Aunty Thelma" and they always made her so happy with their hugs and kisses. Although Thelma had her challenges, she lived her life on her own terms and decided when she would or would not do certain things. She was strong-willed. She always made us laugh with her silly comments and stories that she liked to tell us. She enjoyed going to the John Osborne Club for the meat draws and loved watching the tickets to see if they were winners. She did win quite a few times! Thank you to MBS Residence Group (Mia, Christian, Eva and "Barbara") for their support. In keeping with Thelma's wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Lundar Legion Hall with Father Paul Tinguely officiating. Thelma will be laid to rest in the Lundar Municipal Cemetery next to her mom, dad and brother Albert. Following the interment, lunch and coffee with be served back at the Lundar Legion Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
