ANNA JOANNA FEDELLA (DEL) FARRELL (nee SCIBERRAS) Anna passed away on July 20, 2018 at the age of 97. She was a longtime resident of Westwood/St. James area. Anna was born on September 30, 1920 in Malta to Lucarda and Peter Sciberras. She was the big sister to brothers, Fred, Mike and Charlie. She grew up in Transcona and lived for a short time in Toronto. On her return to Winnipeg she was proud to be hired at the Hudson Bay Store as part of the first group of elevator operators. That was where she acquired the nickname, Del. There was another girl named Anna so their supervisor shortened her middle name, Fedella to Del. She also worked at Canada Car during the Second World War helping on the home front. Del married Jack Farrell on January 24, 1946 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They had two children, a son, Jim and a daughter, Deborah. Del had several jobs but one of her favourites was working at Ricki's in Unicity Mall. For many years Del belonged to the Royal Purple, where she was the Honoured Royal Lady. Del was predeceased by her brothers, Mike and Fred and in 1995 by her loving husband Jack. Del is survived by her daughter Deborah (Tom) of California and her son Jim (Lynne) of Alberta; grandchildren, Magan, Matt, Ryan and Dana; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Katelyn and Presley Ann; her brother Charlie (Rose), sister-in-law Stella, many nieces and nephews, especially Lloyd and Brenda and special friend Dianne. A visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Bardal Funeral Home and a service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2018 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. • Del was my grandmother’s best friend and although we lost my grandma several years ago I still remained close with Del. We shared stories from when I was young.. I would leave my grandma’s and go to Del and Jack’s to see their cat Phoebe. As an adult, I would go and see her in her home and she always had a smile or story for me. I will miss her terribly. Rest In Peace my friend - Posted by: Marni Van Dale (Friend ) on: Jul 30, 2018

  • Del has been like a second mother to me since I wAs a teen and we remained close until her death. We enjoyed many times together shopping, going to the movies and going out to her two favourite restaurants... the Silver Heights for steak sandwich and a beer or Applebee’s for shrimp and French onion soup. She was the energizer bunny up until a few years ago and she moved so fast it was hard to keep up with her. Her son Jim and I went to highs school together and her daughter Debbie was like my little sister. I will miss our wonderful times together and her great sense of humour. You will remain forever in my heart Del. My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to Deb and Jim. With love, Dianne - Posted by: Dianne Watson (Close family friend) on: Jul 29, 2018
