ALMERINDA PEREIRA MACHADO Surrounded by the love of her family, Almerinda left us to reunite with her husband of 62 years, Joao, who departed to heaven three months ago. Left to cherish the matriarch of the family are her children, Alda Calheiros, Nelia (Tony) Goncalves and Emanuel (JoAnn) Machado. Besides her children, Almerinda's most prized possessions included her treasured grandchildren: Helder, Carla, Jennifer (Victor) Calheiros, Marcio (Steven) and Bruno (Ainslie) Goncalves, Breanna and Julien Machado; along with her four great-grandchildren: Andreas, Milano, Persia and Adriano. She is also survived by her sister Conceicao Correia, as well as numerous family and friends, including Luis Sousa, to whom the family is thankful for his daily, caregiving visits. Mom's life revolved around nurturing her family with unconditional love, care and "bondade" (generous spirit). She always thought of others before herself; rendering her super-woman to all who met her. Mom's super-woman cape has now been replaced with the wings of an angel. Special thanks to all of the staff of GD4 wing at the Health Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes everyone to honour Mom's spirit by remembering to love, cherish and care for their loved ones, as she did. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., and Mass of Christian Burial the following morning on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., both at Immaculate Conception Church, 181 Austin Street North.
