Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPHINE THERESE GATIEN (nee VICKERS) December 20, 1928 - August 10, 2018 It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our mom Josie. Surrounded by her family, she passed peacefully. She was predeceased by her husband Hector, her parents, as well as several sisters and one brother. Josie is survived by her children, Paul (Jennifer), Chris (Jeannie), Jos (Brenda), Margaret (Gary) and Patrice (Mario), as well as 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Born in Winnipeg, she resided here most of her life. Mom met her greatest love and married Dad on July 2, 1949. She worked more than 20 years at the Royal Bank of Canada as a data processing supervisor. After retirement she and Dad did many things together. They shared a love for travelling, the horse races, the casino and most of all, their family. Their children's happiness always came first. They shared 63 years together before Dad passed in 2012. Because they did everything together it is fitting that she passed away the same day as he did six years ago. Josie's greatest wish was that everyone in her life be blessed with good health, happiness and fortune. She loved us all deeply. The family greatly appreciated the compassion and support from the staff, nurses and doctors in the emergency and SICU units at Health Sciences Centre. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18 at 9:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Flowers gratefully declined, donations in Josie's memory may be made to Siloam Mission.

Just as your mom and dad embraced everyone, I embrace them both in my heart. A loving couple now reunited. Now that was a love affair. I am most thankful and grateful that they included me in their family life while I was growing up. Loved the house on Henderson Highway and all the good times. I remember her soft spoken demeanour. She was still gorgeous at her age. Hugs to all. She had a great-great-grandchild? Wow. Time has flown. - Posted by: Brenda Malynyk (Childhood friend to children) on: Aug 15, 2018
