ELSE LAUBER September 9, 1922 - August 15, 2018 It is with sadness at her passing but gratitude at her release, that the family of Else Lauber announce her death on August 15, 2018. She was surrounded by family during her last moments. Else was born in Kutu Salesie, Volhynia, Poland on September 9, 1922, the daughter of Wilhelm and Ernestine (nee Gunther) Nikolai. She immigrated to Canada in 1948, initially to Saskatchewan and then to Winnipeg where she married Alfred in 1952. They worked hard, starting a family and building a new life together. After Alfred's death in 1964, she worked even harder to provide and care for her family. Mom loved gardening and was gifted with a green thumb. Her violets bloomed continually, filling the window sills of her home. Her tomatoes were legendary. She enjoyed crocheting and baking. But most of all, she loved her family. Her children and then her grandchildren were most important in her life. She loved family outings and trips and attended as many of the grandchildren's events as she could. The last years have been difficult as her abilities and health declined. Many thanks to the staff of Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their care. Else was predeceased by her parents, her husband Alfred, her sister Olga, and her brothers, Adolf and Erwin. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Linda Yaworski (Ron), son Gary Lauber (Terry); beloved grandchildren, Dr. Daniel Yaworski (Jolie), Serena Yaworski-Lien (Jeff), and Travis Lauber; and great-grandson Zander Yaworski. She is also survived by sisters and brother-in-law, Hertha Nikolay, Freida Dodds, Hermine Lauber and Gerhard Lauber, along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. in Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington Street.
