MURIEL IRENE SCHADEK Muriel Irene Schadek died peacefully on August 7, 2018 in Winnipeg at the age of 96. Muriel is survived by her daughter Ruthann, daughter-in-law Deborah, son-in-law Jim, and sister-in-law Irene. Also her grandchildren, Jim (Heidi), Aaron (Domanie), Nicole, Tara (Ty), Justine and Rika, along with her great-grandchildren, Jessica, Clinton, Kelsy, Aidan, Abigail, Katie, Scarlett, Ryder and Eli. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, son Bill Junior, son Alan and daughter Patti Lynn also brothers, Robert and Irvin, sister Ruth and grandson-in-law Greg. Muriel was born on November 13, 1921 in Kitchener, Ontario to Irvin Weber and Irene Bingeman. Muriel enjoyed a fulfilling life in the Kitchener and Waterloo area and remained very close to her family and friends there. She married Army Captain William Schadek in 1946 and after a few years managing their dental clinic in Yellowknife, they relocated the practice to Winnipeg and raised their family. Bill also coached minor hockey and the family soon became an integral part of the Silver Heights community. Muriel and Bill later moved to Lockport to live in their beloved Havencroft. The family thanks Beacon Hill Lodge, and in particular the sixth floor staff, for their care and honourable support over the last two years and also Thomson Funeral Home for helping them through this painful loss. A special thank you to Helen Peters for her kind friendship. A family graveside service is being held on a future date at Little Britian Cemetery. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • A sad time for the family but if their memories are as good as mine, they have much to smile about, when they think of Mom Schadek. Just a few days I was thinking of Muriel as I came across some hockey photos from long ago, at Silver Heights. I smiled and thought of all of the good times spent with Doc Schadek, young Bill and Alan at the rink and the house on Conway. Ruthann and Patti Lynn were always there, but as younger sisters they were just a “nuisance”. Little did we know how important they would be for their family. Truly a remarkable lady and the matriarch of a good family. Please accept my condolences, and know your mom was well liked and will be fondly remembered - Posted by: David Wharrie (Family acquaintance ) on: Aug 26, 2018
