DOROTHY MARVELLA BOZNIANIN (nee HEGLAND) June 28, 1938 - August 24, 2018 It is with great sorrow, treasuring many memories, that we say good-bye to our wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Dorothy was born in Morse Place, Winnipeg and was raised and resided in Lac du Bonnet most of her life. She was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl, her brothers, Ottar, John (Yvonne) and Norman (Mary), her parents, Ottar and Jenny, and brother-in-law Johnny. During the almost 65 years of marriage (September 5, 1953) Dorothy and her husband Mike farmed in the Landerville area for many years where they raised their family. She leaves to mourn her husband Mike, son Michael, and daughters, Angela, Katherine, Heather (Grant), Fay (Dave) and Kristeen (Gord), as well as 13 grandchildren, and a growing number of great-grandchildren. Also missing her is her sister Marlene, brother Art (Diane), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many relatives and dear friends. Dorothy was very active in many aspects of community life. She was involved in 4-H as a teacher, President of the Home and School Association, served as a member of council and the first female elected Reeve for the RM of Lac du Bonnet. She served as a board member and Chairperson for the Association of Community Living and was a strong advocate for children and adults with learning disabilities. She spent a lifetime working with organizations that promoted equal opportunity and safe living for female persons. She served on the board of the North Eastman Health Association as well as many other organizations and committees. Dorothy has chosen to donate her body to science in an effort to advance medical research. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held in Lac du Bonnet on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion located at 45 McArthur Ave. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Dorothy's name. Please also consider organ donation. "A loving heart has gone to rest"

Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • Lots of good memories of Dodo and Art in Lac du Bonnet. I spent 2 summers there after grade 5 and 6. Dodo's Dad was doing carpentry work for her one summer. He would leave Art and me by the dock for swimming and pick us up on the way back to their house for supper. - Posted by: Brian Hammerback (second cousin to Dodo and her brother Art) on: Sep 04, 2018

  • I knew Dorothy for a long time - a beautiful, kind, very strong lady she was like a mother to all who crossed her path me for one. So glad she had crossed into my path an inspiration in my life, she always had away of turning a negative to a positive. I will miss her till the day I see her again. I am praying for her family now for comfort . She is home now though where there is no more illness or suffering. Another angel in our lives. - Posted by: lynn h gauthier (Friend) on: Aug 30, 2018

  • My mom’s favourite past-time was reading cookbooks. She collected them & read them like novels. My fondest memory is the smell of fresh baked bread in our house. Here is a recipe I have selected for my mom in her favourite format: A Recipe for a Mom - 1lb unconditional love, 1 bunch of affection, 3 TBLSP trust, 1 handful of memories, 2 drops of “examples to follow”, 2 cups of patience, a pinch of laughter & tears, 1 dash of sleepless nights. Sprinkle with creativity, intuition, tenderness & dedication. Love you & will miss you, Heather & Grant Farrows (daughter & son-in-law). - Posted by: Heather & Grant Farrows (Daughter & son-in-law) on: Aug 28, 2018

  • Condolences to the family. Dorothy was a significant person in my life growing up. Her wisdom and kindness, her intelligence and positive attitude towards life continuous to resonate with me. I will never forget her and the impact she has had on my life. Spread your wings and fly Dorothy. You are free. - Posted by: Alice McEwan-Morris (Friend) on: Aug 28, 2018

  • I grew up with the Boznianins and have fond memories of sleep-overs at the farm. Dorothy was always so kind and gentle. Despite her own large family, she always had room in her heart and home for one more. Despite not seeing her for many years, my childhood memories are always with me and I go back there in my mind and spirit from time to time. Thank you Dorothy for those memories. May you rest in peace. - Posted by: Sherry Meade (Family friend) on: Aug 28, 2018
