FRIEDRICH GUSTAV MOEHRING October 10, 1931 - August 26, 2018 Friedrich Moehring, known to everyone as "FRITZ" passed away, surrounded by his loving family, at Concordia Hospital. He leaves to mourn his wife of 59 years, Hermine (nee Vornehm) and their children, John (Debbie), Sharon (Kevin) and Iris. He was the very proud Opa to Teri (Kent), Theresa (Chase), Gilbert, Tyler, and an Ur-Opa to Svanna and Brook. Fritz was predeceased by his parents, Ida and Wilhelm, brothers and sister, Wilhelm, Gustav, Hans and Wanda, and is survived by his brother and sisters, Werner, Hilda and Berta. Fritz came to Canada in 1958 where he met Hermine in English classes; they married on November 1, 1958. He became a proud citizen of Canada in 1962. He worked as a journeyman carpenter and joined the North Kildonan Fire Department as a volunteer in 1971. He had the honour of working on projects such as the Winnipeg Planetarium and Polo Park Shopping Centre. He became a full time firefighter for the East Kildonan Fire Department when the municipalities of North and East Kildonan amalgamated. He then came to the Winnipeg Fire Department upon amalgamation of the surrounding municipalities with Winnipeg in 1974. He proudly served the citizens of Winnipeg until July 11, 1993. Fritz loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and teaching his kids the joys and beauty of nature. A private family memorial will be held. A very special thank you to the Winnipeg Fire Fighters and Paramedics, and Concordia Hospital staff for the professional and compassionate care during Dad's journey over the last year.
