SHELAGH MARY GILMORE (nee ROWLETTE) January 23, 1930 August 21, 2018 Peacefully, at home, after a wonderful life. Devoted wife of Bob, who predeceased her March 29, 2006. Loving mother of Kathy (Bob), Cody (Steve), Robin (Chris) and Jennifer (Don). Adored Nana of Cameron, Matthew, Jonathan, Geoffrey, Gillian and Abigail. Shelagh was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Archie and Alice Rowlette, and was the younger sister of Kay (Mike, Jeff, Alison and Ted). Shelagh made many dear friends in her youth, some of whom are still here to mourn her. A graduate of the University of Manitoba, she was a career woman until she met Bob and became an amazing wife and Mum. Bob and Shelagh moved many times with their growing family and made enduring friendships with each move. Their first home was in Winnipeg, followed by Vancouver, Beaconsfield, Hudson, Clarkson, Oakville and then back to Hudson, all within 15 years. They then moved to Calgary and later to North Oaks, Minnesota. Shelagh made a loving home at every town or city where Bob's career primarily with Canadian Pacific Railway took them, and they were blessed to retire in Hudson. Shelagh and Bob loved to travel and had many wonderful cruises and trips to Ireland, along with visits to the kids in California and Virginia Beach. Shelagh was a tireless volunteer, loved singing with St. James' Church Choir and attended the AristoFit and AristoFit II exercise class every weekday morning in St. James' Church Hall until a few years ago. She enjoyed bridge, crosswords and reading. She was a lovely lady, an amazing cook, a gracious hostess and a ukulele player par excellence who was known to lead many a sing-song at their many parties. Shelagh was an extraordinary person, entirely dedicated to her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at St. James' Church, 642 Main Road, Hudson, QC, Saturday at 11:00 a.m. on October 13, followed by a reception in St. James' Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to NOVA Hudson, (202-465 Main Road, Hudson, QC J0P 1H0 or http://www.novahudson.com/Donations.htm) or St. James' Church, 642 Main Road, Hudson, QC J0P 1H0 or https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/ 869999441RR0001-st-james-church would be greatly appreciated. To the NOVA nurses, Judy, Wanda, Betty and Brenda who cared for Shelagh during her last months at home and Dr. Ron Hryniowski who cared for her in his office and at her home, the family expresses its sincere gratitude and thanks. She will be loved and missed forever.
