RAYMOND (RAY) TOKAR August 9, 1941 - August 31, 2018 It is with great sadness that the family of Raymond Tokar announce his sudden passing on August 31, 2018, at home. Ray will be lovingly remembered by his spouse of over 35 years, Karen Kardynal. Also, son Darrell (Sherry); daughters, Lorena (Gerry), Kelsey and Koreen; grandchildren Erin (Brian), Carley Shawn), Brady and Erik; great-grandchildren, Madi and Dylan; sister Lorraine (Adam); nephews, Brian, Bruce and Brad; brother Dennis (Sharron); nephews, Clayton, Travis and Jason; niece Shannon; mother-in-law Theresa Kardynal; brothers-in-law, Leonard, Bob (Gisselle); Susan Schmitt (Keith); Merna Tokar mother of his children; nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Ray was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Tokar; in-laws George and Una Feuffel; Frank Kardynal; Kathy Kardynal and Billy Schmitt. Ray was born and grew up on the family farm in Keld, MB. After high school, he moved to Winnipeg to further his education in electronic technology. He started his career with National Typewriter and then moved on to CBC, as a video and audio technician. In his career span of over 30 years with CBC, he travelled and had many adventures in the "Blue Whale". It was during this time that he made many longtime friends. From a young age, Ray was surrounded by music and at six years old, he began to play the fiddle and mastered that quickly. He enjoyed his jam sessions with his longtime friend John Monteith and especially in later years, their weekly sessions, joined by Peter. Ray was a man of great integrity and no task was too big or too small to help others. He did it with love and dignity. Ray took pride in his yard and was a jack-of-all trades and could repair anything. Ray spent many years camping, fishing and spending time around the fire with his children. Memories were made at Riding Mountain, Katherine Lake, Gull Lake and later at Tamarack Lodge. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Little Britain United Church Hall, 5879 Hwy #9 Lockport, MB. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Selkirk Hospital Outpatient Department for their excellent care and a special thank you to Dr. M.B. MacMillan and Dr. G. Harding. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ray may be made to Health Sciences Centre Foundation hscf.thankyou4caring.org to Ultrasounds for HSC's Anesthesia Program. Such a "heart wrenching" sadness, to hear of Ray's sudden passing. Knew he was having some problems, but certainly didn't expect this! Our hearts are feeling so much pain for "ALL of You"; His family, and friends, Karen, Ray's son, and daughters and their families, all of you who loved, and cared for Ray and my brother John; you two were so close. We extend to you ALL, our "deepest, and most heartfelt sympathy" in the loss of such a "special guy!"
