JEAN RHEDA SARGENT Peacefully, on September 7, 2018, our dear Mom, Gramma and Great-Gramma went with Jesus to her heavenly home at the age of 90. Left to miss her loving nature and adventurous spirit are her three children, Joan Howland (Bernie), David Kimber (Anna) and Jean Renouf, her daughter-in-law Kathy Youngson, sister-in-law Myra Sargent, and numerous grandchildren, great-grand-children and friends. She was predeceased by her father Norman Sargent, her mother Lillian Sargent, her two brothers, Doug and Charlie Sargent, two sons, Wayne Kimber and Doug Youngson, and her son-in-law Dixy Renouf. Jean was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 2, 1928. As a young child her family moved to the Brandon, Manitoba area where she spent her early years. In the mid-1950s she met and married Horace Kimber from Youngstown, Alberta where they raised their family on a large cattle ranch. Many happy memories were made while horseback riding, attending family get-togethers and community events. Mom was a hard worker and wonderful cook and always had delicious meals and baking for her family. In the early 1970s the family moved to Manitoba. While living in Winnipeg, Mom travelled extensively on bus tours throughout Canada and the United States, and made several trips overseas including Israel, Greece, Hawaii, England and Scotland. Her last two trips were to Cuba and Las Vegas at age 84. Faith in God was always a part of Mom's life and she regularly attended church. She worked many years in the home-care field where her caring nature for others was greatly appreciated. Her independent and adventurous nature often surprised her children as she continued to bowl, skate, cross-country ski, bike ride and travel well into her 70s and 80s. Her loving ways, generous heart and wonderful sense of humour will be greatly missed. A celebration of her life will be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway on Friday, September 14 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bruce Adams officiating. Interment will follow the service and reception at Brookside Cemetery. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 204-783-7211 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsonfuneralchapel.com
