BURTON JAMES KENNEDY May 14, 1917 - September 6, 2018 Burton was born to Samuel and Hannah Kennedy in Winnipeg. He passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital the morning of September 6. He is survived by Agnes (Landreth), his loving wife of 75 years, daughter Judith, son Roger (Brenda), daughter-in-law Lucille, grandsons, Tim and Mark, great-grandchildren, Ashley (Barry), Ryan (Georgia), Emelia, Alexandra, Amanda and Shawn, great-great-grandchildren, Peyton, Jerome, and another great-great-grandson soon to be born. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews of the Kennedy, Macklin, Landreth and Hart families. He was predeceased by his eldest son Burton, brothers, Don, Greg, and sister Helen Macklin. Burton was an accomplished figure skater attaining the Gold Dance Certificate at the Winnipeg Winter Club, and skating in many Ice shows in the late 1930s. He played golf at St. Charles since 1930, as a junior and belonged to the Manitoba Club. Burton was a Manufacturers Agent in the poultry and meat packing industry for 40 plus years. He was a long time member of the West Winnipeg Rotary Club with perfect attendance for 65 plus years, and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was an honorary member of the Probus Club. He made many lifelong and cherished friends through his various associations. Special thanks to the staff of the Grace Hospital Emergency Department for their kindness and gentle care. Cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg, Wednesday, September 19, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200

  • I was sorry to hear about Mr. Kennedy's passing. He was a man of dignity who graciously shared his knowledge and business acumen with me during my tenure at Sturgeon Creek II Retirement Residence. He was a fine gentleman with a good sense of humour...and it was an honour to know him and his fine wife.
