DOLORES SANDY (nee BECKER) Peacefully on September 13, 2018, after a long struggle with dementia, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at Oakview Place Personal Care Home. Dolores was born on January 8, 1934 in Fraserwood, Manitoba. She spent her childhood on the family farm part of a large family. This love of the land, nature and gardening remained with her for her entire life. She ventured to the city to complete high school. As a young woman she worked as an administrative assistant - a job she spoke of proudly and fondly her whole life. Dolores married in 1954 and soon became a full time mother and homemaker. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, knitting, playing bridge, gourmet cooking, teaching Sunday School and in her later years spending countless hours caring for, teaching and loving her grandchildren. Her summers were spent at Winnipeg Beach creating wonderful lifetime memories for them. None of the kids will forget her "porridge every morning" rule! Dolores was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Annie Becker, her brothers, Fred and Jack, her sister Violet, and her grandsons, Zack and Isaac. She is survived by her daughters, Kim Midford (Jim), Dani Diduck (Glenn), Andrea Babinsky (Mike) and Peggy Sorenson (Todd); grandchildren, Jamie (Jeff), Jeremy (Stephanie), Krista (Phil), Courtney (Nyle), Lindsay (Mike), Nicole (Derek), Alex (Jenna), Jaclyn (Steve), Danielle, Mackenzie (Michael), Callie (Jordan), Jake, Callum and Logan; great-grandchildren, Jordon, Jaxon, Ryan, Olivia, Isabella, Jaidyn, Zoey, Kate, Emmett, Peyton, Bowen, Lucas, Benjamin, Grace, Parker, Theo and Emersyn. She is survived also by her sisters, Helen Wright and Vicki Pidhayecki and their families, her brothers, Ted, Don, Adam, Dennis and Ken Becker and families. A special thank you to all the staff at Oakview Place who so lovingly and gently took care of our mom and provided ongoing support to our family. You are very special people. The memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 21 at Atlantic-Garden City United Church 725 Atlantic Avenue. Interment to happen at a later date. If folks so wish, donations may be made in Dolores's memory to Pueblito Canada or Doctors Without Borders. Both were organizations she supported for many years. • Dear Kim and Family, so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. The loss of a mother is profound. She leaves a wonderful legacy with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You shared a wonderful loving relationship with your mom. I remember the beautiful sweaters she knit for my girls when they were little. • She was a loving friend and neighbor. I remember the day she put her house up for sale on McCurdy. I was coming home from school and saw the sign. I cried so much that day. I was going to miss our daily visits. She was a warm, friendly, wonderful women that accepted everyone as is. • Life is but a journey and now is a time to reflect on the good times we shared with Dolores and family. Our trip to Disneyland and the family get together still bring forth a smile and the results of her efforts resulted in a family anyone would be proud of. Well done Dolores, rest in peace. • Dear Kim, Poppy, Andi and Peggy: Though it has been many years since I have seen any members of your family, I often think back to those carefree days on McCurdy. We used to have a lot of fun together in those days. I offer all of you my deepest condolences. I know that your mother loved all of you very dearly and was always so proud of your achievements. Hopefully these wonderful memories will sustain you over the difficult days ahead. Terri Kushner, Abbi and Tom Baker and family - all of Toronto - Posted by: Terri Kushner (friend) on: Sep 18, 2018
