Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST JOHN HUBICK Peacefully on September 15, 2018, Ernie Hubick passed away, at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, at the age of 87, with friends at his side. Ernie was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia Marie Hubick, and daughter Kimberley Mary Hubick. Left to cherish his memory is his sister Loreen Waschenfelder, many nieces and nephews, and many close friends. Born to Christian and Elizabeth Hubick, as one of 13 siblings, Ernie enjoyed growing up on the farm in Southey, SK driving the tractor and other machinery. R.C.A.F. became Ernie's employer in 1950, and he was stationed in several places across Canada until leaving the Forces in 1960. In 1952 Ernie met Pat in Ottawa, and they were married on Valentine's Day, 1953. Their daughter Kimberley was born November 3, 1959. Ernie, Pat and Kimberley were faithful, active members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church participating in all the activities - from potluck dinners to fundraising. The Hubick family enjoyed over 30 years at their cottage in Whitesand Estates. Ernie enjoyed building the cottage, planting the beautiful flowers, veggies, and the enormous Christmas display each year. He was always busy with a project such as woodworking, metal sculpting, producing diamond willow furniture, or going berry picking with friends. Their love of family and friends shone with their special guest events and family reunions. Later in life Ernie enjoyed his many friends who would drop by for a visit. He was proud of his holopici making, which many got to taste. Ernie loved trips to South Beach Casino, sometimes coming home with pockets jingling. Ernie greatly appreciated the genuine concern and care given to him the past three years by his dear friends and the many home care workers. Thank you to Dr. Zoppa, the many angels at Selkirk Regional Health Centre and friends who went far beyond in their love, care and support for Ernie during this difficult time. Flowers are gratefully declined, in lieu please make a donation to the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Saude officiating at Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB. Condolences, pictures and videos may be left on his tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
