ANNIE KALIKA (nee KOWALIUK) November 27, 1933 September 14, 2018 Annie rejoins her beloved husband Peter, as she has passed away peacefully at her home on September 14, 2018. She is survived by her sisters, Dorena and Vikki; her brother-in-law Alfonso and several nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by both her parents; her sister Mary and niece Christina. Annie had to take on the caregiver role with her three younger sisters when their mom (baba) left for work. Although a little shy by nature, those that knew Annie, best remember her kind words to lift your spirits, her quick-witted sense of humour and infectious giggle at a good joke. Annie and Peter loved to go to the horse races at Assiniboine Downs in the 50s and 60s in their Cadillac Fleetwood. Annie was generous and she and Peter always gave their nieces and nephews the most memorable gifts at Christmas Eve at baba's house. Annie loved all animals, owning budgies, their cherished dog Nikki and would always provide the odd stray cat with some warm milk or food. Annie enjoyed many years in their family home and spoke often of wonderful neighbours, as well as her new friends at her senior's residence. Annie will be deeply missed but certainly not forgotten. The legacy of her compassionate, gentle spirit, kind, beautiful soul and her love of friends and family will live on through them. As Annie never liked being the center of attention and per her wishes, there will be no services. A celebration of her life to be later. Cremation has taken place. Those wishing to honour her life, can donate in her name to any animal shelter or any charity of their choosing. 204-782-3541

  • I worked with Annie at the theatre on Sargent Avenue behind the concession stand. I recall her as being very sweet and helpful to me on my first day working at the theatre. - Posted by: June Pospishell (former co-worker at old movie theatre on Sargent Avenue) on: Sep 22, 2018
