I can’t believe I just found out that Eva had passed away. What a shock. I had wondered why I had not receive my regular Christmas call and cards from her. I feel so terrible for not trying to find out why. Somehow life goes by so quickly and you forget to do things that should be important. I still have her on this year’s Christmas list!! Eva was such a very special wonderful, caring person and we became fast friends when I lived in Thompson. She helped me through a difficult time during my divorce. She was always there to support me. We continued to stay in touch when we moved from Thompson. I always looked forward to our phone calls. Eva had such a great sense of humour...so many great memories. Sending our deepest condolences to her family especially John and Erika .....I can’t express how sorry I am for not reaching out and finding out why our communication stopped. But rest assured she will always be remembered. With love❤️❤️💔💔 - Posted by: Ingrid Brooks (Friend) on: Dec 04, 2020

I met Eva when I was VERY young.. she soon became “Auntie Eva” as she became more like family than just a friend. Her and my mother spent many many days together drinking tea.. feeding me her endless wonderful cookies and of course chasing her grandkids and myself around her home (that I will add: was always open to the neighbourhood kids and whomever wanted a cup of tea!) I will miss her laughter and utter love for her family and the smile that lit up a room. May you rest peacefully Auntie Eva My deepest condolences to her entire family Love, Laurel Negrych (aka Cookie Face) - Posted by: Laurel Negrych (Family Friend ) on: Oct 03, 2018

Eva Suru was certainly an amazing woman. I met her through my mother as Eva had worked for her in Thompson. I met Eva's children and we all became very close. Eva was like a 2nd mother to me. I loved her honesty, her personality and incredible smile. I loved how much she loved her Family as well. She will be missed. Eva was an Angel to so many people.I remember her contacting me through Facebook messenger last year. I chuckled as I thought to myself, darn! She knows how to use a computer. Lol I've not seen Eva in years but I always thought of her. You're always in my heart Eva Suru. I love you and always will. - Posted by: Maria Dudas (Friend) on: Oct 03, 2018

I first met Eva, and Papa in Thompson, Manitoba. Her and her husband owned and operated a Chinese restaurant. My daughter and I and stepson became friends easily. She welcomed everyone that came into their restaurant with opened arms. My daughter and I spent many wonderful hours and days together with her children and grandchildren. I most loved her laughter, her honesty and her friendship! We were friends for 35 years! We spent countless of hours on the phone with each other when they moved back to Winnipeg! It wasn't too long afterwards that, my husband and daughter moved back to Winnipeg, also! WE cried together, laughed together and spoke to each other everyday! I will miss our talks on the phone. What I loved most about Eva was her love for her family and friends! Always, having time for other persons! The best time that we had together is when we were doing breakfast, lunch and supper, for a contract that she had in Thompson. We were so tired from making the meals she accidentally place soya sauce instead of vanilla! Dang, they were the best butter tarts ever!lol Another time which her and I could never understand why? Tuffy, their dog, would pee in my purse, when Sherrie and I would go over. He never did it to anyone else, just me. I guess he figured, well will make her part of the family, one way or another. I will miss our phone calls Eva. I look at this is how blessed I was to be able to speak with you before your passing and thank-you for you and Papa for being there for Sherrie and I and saying I love you with all of my heart! You were and are a very special angel Eva, love you to the moon and home again! Always, Lucille and family - Posted by: Lucille McKeen (Friend/daughter) on: Oct 01, 2018

Eva was the first woman I knew as a grandmother. She is sorely missed. I remember her restaurant and her cooking in Thompson. Her dog Tuffy. And playing with her grand kids. She always had words of encouragement and told things as she saw fit. She was a wonderful woman. And amazing person. - Posted by: Sherrie Worden (Family friend ) on: Sep 29, 2018
