HARRIETT (HATTIE) MILLS (nee STAPLES) 1921 - 2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Aunt Harriett (Hattie) Mills (nee Staples) on September 27, 2018 at Deer Lodge Centre, with family by her side. Hattie was predeceased by her dear husband Bernard Mills who died January 28, 2016, parents, Alice and Albert Staples, sisters, Lila Kehler, Reta Larocque and Thelma Olson, and brothers, Clifford and Clarence Staples. Hattie is survived by her sister Violet Miles and sister-in-law Nancy Staples, as well as several nieces and nephews, along with their children and grandchildren, all who were very special to her. Hattie enjoyed being with family, listening to music and playing card games. Although she lived in Winnipeg most of her life, she had a special love for rural Manitoba in and around the Hodgson/Fisher Branch area where she was born on June 20, 1921, and grew up with family and friends. Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Deer Lodge Centre for their care and compassion given to Harriett during her time there. In keeping with Hattie's wishes, cremation has taken place and her remains will be placed with Bernard at Glen Eden Cemetery. No formal service will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice. "Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure."
