WALTER FRANK PALEY November 19, 1926 - September 29, 2018 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Paley. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 70 years, Ann, his children, Ron (Qiuyan), Jo-Ann and Janice, his grandchildren, Philip, Melissa, Angie (Dwayne) and Derek (Katherine), his great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Cedar, Chloe, Daniel, Jasper, and by nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his son-in-law David, his parents, Philip and Mary, his brother Joey (Vicky), and sisters-in-law, Sophie (Bill) and Mary (Norman). Walter was born in Winnipeg. He was raised in the North End living on Selkirk Avenue and attended both Florence Nightingale and Isaac Newton schools. He was a fine musician. He played saxophone, clarinet and accordion in a band, and played many occasions throughout Winnipeg. He also played in Winnipeg Beach where he met the love of his life, Ann. They married and raised their family living on Burrows Avenue. The family enjoyed trips, twice a year to the farm in Virden, leaving lasting, wonderful memories. In later years, the family enjoyed a cottage at Falcon Lake which both children and grandchildren loved. Walter was also a competitive sportsman. He loved handball and he received many trophies. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed golf, tennis and baseball. He worked, until his retirement at Charles M. Home Ltd., selling men's suiting material, travelling western Canada. Both Walter and Ann shared a love of gardening. They moved from Burrows Avenue 45 years ago, to a home on an acre of land in West St. Paul, where together they enjoyed a large garden. The Catholic Church was an important part of family life. First for many years St. Peter's Church, and then St. Theresa's Church. The communities and many friends were all very special to them. Our family thanks the staff at Golden West Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave Dad. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at St. Theresa's Church, 3597 Main St., West St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Walter's honour. • Hello Paley family. My parents Rose and Barny Harasymowich lived on Magnus Ave and I remember Walter and Ann and his brother Joe and his wife Vicky. I recall my mother telling me that one day Walter gave me a ride on his bicycle and then he had to endure my pleadings to do it again and again. That was decades ago. I hope your memories of Walter bring you some joy in remembering him. Joanne Reimer - Posted by: Joanne Reimer (Neighbour from Magnus Ave) on: Oct 07, 2018

  • I am so sorry to learn of Walter's passing Please accept my deepest and heartfelt sympathy. - Posted by: Dianne Kennedy (friend) on: Oct 06, 2018

  • Dear Paley family: I am so sorry to hear of Walter's passing. I fondly remember the Paley family when my family and the Paley's were neighbors. My family lived on Magnus Avenue, and the Paley's behind us on Burrows Avenue. My brothers, sister and myself attended school with the Paley children. Ron Paley was also our next door neighbor on Magnus Avenue, and we thoroughly enjoyed when he got together for his "jam" sessions...the music was phenomenal! Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of your loved one. Stay strong for one another, and always keep Walter in your hearts. ...Marilyn Corbitt - Posted by: Marilyn Corbitt (Neighbor and friend.) on: Oct 06, 2018
