Dear Selwood family, I was informed of Jean's passing today (Dec 5) by a lady who lives on my floor. Jean was my next door neighbor at Rivergate Estates when I moved here in 2012. Jean was a warm, caring, gentle soul. I truly missed her when she had moved out. Peace be with you all. Darlene Lavallee - Posted by: Darlene Lavallee (Neighbor) on: Dec 05, 2018

Linda and Karen, I was so saddened to hear about your mom.I still remember coming to your house for lunch as a young girl when my mom went back to work at Eatons. She was truly a beautiful lady both inside and out. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. - Posted by: Joanne Shute (Family friend) on: Nov 11, 2018

My dear friends Karen and Linda – my heart goes out to both of you at this sad time. I know that Jean will be in your hearts and all around you both forever. My memories of Jean go back as far as I can remember. I’ve known her my whole life. I’ve known her to be kind, sensitive, helpful, supportive. I remember as a very little girl being at your place for lunch having tomato soup and crackers! Throughout the years I have spent time with Jean either at “the lake” or at her home! We’ve had many good laughs and lots of fun. She was the lady among ladies! Always a kind word and always impeccable appearance! She is a wonderful mother! You both are wonderful daughters! Hold your memories close to your heart! Take comfort in all the wonderful shared memories! Shine on Jean! XO - Posted by: Carol Dupuis (Family Friend) on: Oct 30, 2018

Memories of Mrs. Selwood (I never called her Jean) that was taboo 45 years ago and I never could bring myself to call her Jean over the years. Mrs. Selwood was a lady of all ladies, carrying herself with dignity and pride. She was a great example of a woman who knew how to look after herself but also her family and home. The evening walks after supper, going to the YMCA, Sunday night movies, a social butterfly, a card sharkette, a supportive but not intrusive Mom, a great cook....especially those lunch hour hot dogs in the electric frying pan! My memories are fond and can be found in Karen and Linda as they emulate their mother in so many ways. My wish for you both is that you hold the memories of your Mom close to your heart and honor her life in the way you live your life. Sending much love and my deepest condolences to my dear friend Karen, her sister Linda and their extended family. I was so fortunate to have known "Mumzy", and to have had many opportunites to witness her gentle and beautiful spirit. Her greatest love was her "girls".... and her devotion and pride was so obvious to all. Jean always looked fabulous and took such great care in her appearance and her surroundings. She was dressed to the nines at all times! Earrings, lipstick, matching outfit, and hair done...what a knock out!! She was also a great competitor and loved a good game of cards, a cocktail, and of course, a good laugh. I will think of her whenever I play a hand of Crib and my home is filled with family and dear friends. I am forever grateful to have so many fond memories of her that I will cherish for always. Keep that bright and divine light shining Jean.... you will be greatly missed. If flowers grow in heaven, then pick a bunch for me. Place them in her loving arms and tell her they're from me. Tell her I adored her, and when she turns to smile, wrap your arms around her and hold her for awhile. xoxo Angele - Posted by: Angele (friend) on: Oct 27, 2018

Dear Linda and Karen, We offer our condolences on the passing of your mother. She was truly a class act both in terms of her physical appearance (which was impeccable) and the poise and dignity that pervaded her very being. Her ability to combine these elements was reflective of an individual who was confident and self-assured. We wish you much love, Anna and Stan Carbone - Posted by: Stan and Anna Carbone (friends) on: Oct 22, 2018

Karen and Linda and your families. I remember bumping into Linda this past summer and Jean sounded like she was still going on strong. She sure embraced seniorhood well and enjoyed her independence. Jean always looked so well groomed. "Girls she passed it on to you"! You two were and still are knock outs! I hope your lives will go on and with the same spirit as your mom. Your dear mom will be missed but you have your memories and a special mother daughters friendship to be proud of. When I think of you, I wish you both all the best in happiness. We had some great times back then! Love, strength and hugs, Jill - Posted by: jill palmer nee mcwhinney (friends of Karen and Linda) on: Oct 16, 2018
