JOHN CHARLES (JACK) STEWART April 13, 1935 - October 12, 2018 After a long, active and happy life, Jack passed away October 12, 2018 of pulmonary hypertension. He will be sadly missed by Elizabeth (Moore), his wife of 60 years. Jack is also survived by his children, Diane and Allan Gilders, Glen and Mona Stewart, Colleen and Keith Bytheway, and his nine grandchildren, Serena Taylor (Fraser, Elijah and Noah), Mackenzie and Jackson Wardle, Vaughn and Chloe Stewart, Hayden (Bianca), Brock (Abbey), Foster (Mallorie) and Graeme Bytheway. He is also survived by his brother Bob (and Heather) Stewart, a large extended family, and many great friends. Born and educated in Portage la Prairie, Jack came to Winnipeg in 1955 to attend university. He worked for 37 years as an accountant with Systems Business Forms, retiring in 1992. A true gentle man, his first love was his family, raised among many great friends and neighbours on Freemont Bay in St. James. He loved to follow and encourage his children and grandchildren in their athletic and artistic pursuits. Dad spent countless hours between hockey rinks, Highland dance competitions, musical concerts, figure skating and gymnastic competitions, and drama productions. His second love was music. Jack played the keyboard, strummed the ukulele, sang in his church choirs, and made many great friends over the 20 years he spent singing with the Winnipeg Male Chorus. Cremation has taken place. Special thanks to Neil Bardal Funeral Centre. A celebration of Jack's life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 in the Charleswood United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory can be made to the Winnipeg Male Chorus at Treasurer, Winnipeg Male Chorus, 800 Point Road, Winnipeg, MB R3T 3L8, or to a charity of choice.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)
Mr Stewart came into my life when I was in grade Ten. I was friends with Diane and Glen “Howdy”, I managed to learn how to build a basement as he took advantage of free labor in the house. I learnt we shared the same birthday and for many years we touched base to celebrate each other. My thoughts are with your entire family! Love and strength to each one of you!
