RUTH MOLLISON (nee CURRIE) It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on October 15, 2018, at the age of 96. Born in Stonewall, Manitoba, Ruth was the only child of John and Lois Currie. She married Alan Mollison in 1945 and they moved to Winnipeg where they spent 55 years building their life together, raising a family and later enjoying their retirement. She is mourned by her daughter Valerie Mollison, son John Mollison (Myrene), grandchildren, Ian (Rebecca) and Brian (Lea) and great-grandchildren, Trinity, Ivory, Kane, Bailey and Morgan. She was predeceased by Dad in 2000. Mom had a full and productive life. She and Dad grew up on neighbouring farms near Argyle, Manitoba and maintained their connection with the community, with frequent visits to the Mollison family farm as the children grew up. In addition to caring for her family, she put her love of books and her skills as a seamstress and knitter to work for the community. Among the causes close to Mom's heart were the Laura Secord School library, and the knitting clubs she helped organize at The Waverley and at Sterling House that donated hundreds of warm knitted goods to those in need. She also found time to be a strong voice on behalf of the retirement home residents. Mom also spent many relaxing hours working in the garden, both hers and her daughter's, and in creating beautiful drawings of botanical and rural subjects. The family thanks the staff of Poseidon Care Centre for their kindness and care during Mom's final months. A family service was held in Stonewall Cemetery and a celebration of her life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the FortWhyte Alive endowment fund. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall 204 467 2525 info@mackenziefh.com
