ALBERT MCTAVISH 1955 - 2018 It is with great sadness and heartache we announce the sudden passing of our loving Father, Grandpa, Brother and Uncle. On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, our father, Albert suddenly passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre surrounded by family. He is predeceased by his father Ernest, mother Edith, son Clint, brother Andrew, and sisters-in-law, Doreen and Florence. He leaves to mourn his daughters, Debbie (Jason), and Cora; grandchildren, Alexis and Jaden; mother of their children Mary; brothers, Bernard, Wilfred, Percy, Wayne, Gordon, Cecil, Mark; and sisters, Shirley, Beverley, Irene, Marlene, Marilyn, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Albert worked for Manitoba Hydro for over 40 years until he retired in 2017. He took great pride and had unconditional love for his daughters, Debbie and Cora, son-in-law Jason and grandchildren, Alexis and Jaden. He is one of a kind, we could not have wished for a better Father and Papa. Dad will forever be remembered for his big heart, humour and ability to light up a room, and of course we cannot forget his "20" minute conversations. We will forever cherish our memories and keep him close to our hearts! We love you Dad! In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1379 Kenaston Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R3P 0Y4. Cremation has taken place. • I am so sorry for your loss. I know this is a hard time but just keep Albert in your thoughts and slowly it will get better. Albert always had a smile on his face and would always stop and have a short talk when we happened to meet. Hugs and positive thoughts to you . - Posted by: Marilyn Randall (Friend) on: Oct 22, 2018

  • Debbie, Jason & kids, Cora, Mary and the McTavish Family. We are shocked and saddened to hear of Albert's passing, he was a good friend and we have many fond memories of times spent together (especially making cabbage rolls!!). We had lots of fun and also many "short" chats. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. - Posted by: Steve and Noreen Martin (Friends) on: Oct 22, 2018

  • Albert was a long time community member who will be missed. He was a former Mayor of Gillam and member of the Gillam Legion. He always had a story and loved to talk to everyone. His 5 minute breaks were always a little longer. He could spend hours visiting while he shopped at the Gillam Coop. All the best to his family and friends, our condolences and prayers are with you all. - Posted by: Ken Gladden (co worker) on: Oct 21, 2018

  • I never officially met Albert, but am a very close friend of his Daughter, Cora. I’ve heard many stories of how much of an amazing man he was, from his sense of humour to his rock solid advice, he really must have been one of a kind. To raise such an exceptional daughter who is kind, courageous, and will always have your back, I know all those words must be true. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Sending all my strength and love ❤️ - Posted by: Taylor B (Friend of Daughter) on: Oct 20, 2018

  • Our deepest condolences Cora, Debbie & Jason, Alexis & Jaden and Mary. Albert & Mary were some of our first Northern friends after moving to Thompson. I remember being off one weekend and trying to decide what to do, a phone call to them, a tank of gas and we were off to Gillam for the night. They were always great hosts and Albert always had stories to tell. He was quite the entertainer. Our hearts go out to you. Love Terry and Wayne - Posted by: Terry & Wayne Robinson (Friends ) on: Oct 20, 2018

  • Our deepest heartfelt condolences to Debbie and Cora and families, Albert's many siblings, extended family members, and his friends. So sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Darlene & John (Friends, Co-workers,) on: Oct 20, 2018

  • It's a big loss to know that he is gone. His humour and insight were great. His work ethic and sharp intellect always made coming into work a better experience. We all knew that Albert would always stand up against any unfair ideas, actions and policies in and out of the workplace. He sure loved his family and I sent my deepest condolences to you all. - Posted by: Frank Moreau (Friend and coworker at Limestone) on: Oct 20, 2018

  • I will always remember Albert as a soft spoken man with a quiet sense of humor. I believe that family meant everything to Albert and he was a hard working man. Even though I didn't get to see a lot of him over the last several years, I will miss him. R.I.P. Albert. - Posted by: Ann Gislason Stolwyk (cousin) on: Oct 20, 2018
