Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARION JEAN SMITH (nee GALL) It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Marion Jean Smith on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the age of 97. Marion will be lovingly remembered by her children, Laurie Smith (Deborah) and Terry Smith (Fiona); grandchildren, Glenys Smith, Graeme Smith (Sara), Ian Smith, Andrea Serafinus (Rick) and James Serafinus (Pam); great-grandchildren, Justin Serafinus, Logan Serafinus and Hunter Thomas; and sister Dorothy Gall. She was predeceased by her loving husband Glenn M. Smith in September 1979; and siblings, Henderson Gall, William Gall, Francis Keith and Frank Jr. Gall. Marion was born and raised on a small farm just north of Kindersley, Saskatchewan. After graduating from high school, Marion moved north to North Battleford, Saskatchewan, where she worked as an operator for the telephone company. With the arrival of her first son in 1953, Marion became a housewife and raised her two sons. With Glenn working in the oil patch, Marion and Glenn spent the first several years of their marriage moving around small town Alberta such as Legal, Leduc and Lacombe, before settling in Red Deer, Alberta in 1959. Marion continued to live in Red Deer until 2012, when she moved to Winnipeg, where she stayed until her passing. Marion loved to play cards and other games such as bowling. While in her 80s, Marion was able to maintain a +200 league bowling average A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 32 Clearview Drive in Red Deer, Alberta. Marion will be buried at the Alto Rest Cemetery beside her husband. Donations may be made to the Osteoporosis Society of Canada, 123 St Anne's Rd, Winnipeg, MB R2M 2Z1 in Marion Smith's memory. My deepest sympathy to Marion's family. I was able to work at Marion's home and must say she was such a lovely woman! So full of smiles and happiness that she shared with all of her friends.
