TOM ALLAN (RED) MCLEOD Tom Allan "RED" McLeod passed away peacefully Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Lethbridge, AB, after learning of a diagnosis of advance cancer last week. Tom's was comforted by the loving presence of friends and family, while in the hospital. We were blessed that he remained conscious and free of pain in his final days. Tom, the eldest of four children, was born December 14, 1931 in the remote community of Pouce Coupe, BC (near Dawson Creek), where his parents, Allan and Jean McLeod homesteaded. At the age of 10, the family moved to Vancouver Island, but the Rocky Mountains and foothills of the Canadian parries always remain home in his heart. After working with the West Coast Naval Fire Department, Tom moved to Calgary in the 1960s. His life passions included the back country and horses, and he was well known for the western stampede breakfast he would organize each year. After retirement, Tom spent some time living with his son Thomas and son-in-law Jim in Winnipeg, and returned last year to southern Alberta to live near his son Rob, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Tom was predeceased by his brothers, John and Bill McLeod on Vancouver Island, and is lovingly remembered by his sister Jean in Victoria, BC. Predeceased by his first wife Eunice, and second wife Barbara, Tom was a strong influence in the lives of both his sons, Rob and Thomas. He will be remembered with love for his unique sense of humour, and colourful use of language. It is difficult to summarise a life well lived. He leaves behind and will be remembered by a legacy of two granddaughters, Kelly Ann and Rebecca Jean, and great-grandchildren, Joshua, Emily, Mark and Gavin who all reside in southern Alberta. He will also be remembered by a number of nieces and nephews in BC along with a wide circle of friends across Canada. According to his wishes, Tom was cremated without a service. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to this month's Poppy Fund, a charity that was close to Tom's heart.
