SHAWNETTE MARIE LAWSON December 3, 1971 - November 4, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shawnette Marie Lawson who went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. Shawnette was predeceased by her mother Pameata Lawson. She is survived by her father Bernard Lawson, fiancé Samuel Anthony, daughter Ivy Winter, siblings, Sonia, Novlette and Ornette Lawson, nephew DeVon Lee, and many more family and friends. Shawnette was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica and immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1976 when she was just four years old. Three days before her 19 birthday, she gave birth to her daughter Ivy. Shawnette graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2009 with her bachelor's degree in nursing. She expanded her education to become an ICU Nurse a short time later. She eventually went on to work as a Case Coordinator at Concordia Hospital where she was until her passing. Shawnette was a joyful person who loved music, dancing, and having friends and family over often. Most of all she loved to shop and travel, mainly with her cousin and good friend, Terry Ann Davy. Active as she was we could go on and on, for she was so loved. Her laugh, voice, and essence will be greatly missed. The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Boniface Hospital. Celebration of Shawnette's life will be held on Friday November 16. Her viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Both will be held at Church of the Rock, 1387 Buffalo Pl. She will then be laid to rest at Glen Lawn Funeral Home after the service, located at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Reception to follow at Church of the Rock. Shawnette was amazing. She was always putting everyone else first and was so kind and caring. She was such a hard worker and would always persevere through any challenge that came her way. She loved her family and was always so proud of her daughter. I will miss her beautiful spirit. My sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Dana (Past Coworker and friend ) on: Nov 14, 2018
