Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Linda was my 2nd cousin but we decided aunt/niece sounded better. We got reacquainted in the last 4 years since my dad (her 1st cousin) passed away. We became very close and she would come visit me in Fort Frances a few times a year. I cherish those memories. I will miss you terribly and still can't believe this happened. My heart aches, No fooling. - Posted by: Joanne Smith (2nd cousin) on: Dec 10, 2018

  • We were saddened to hear of Linda's passing. She always seemed so full of life and young at heart. Seems like yesterday, she was instigating a water fight at our pool party on Paul Blvd. Everyone who knew her will miss her for sure. Our sincere condolences to her family. We are thinking of you at this time. Love, Martha & David - Posted by: Martha Stanton-Smith & David Smith (Cousins-in-law) on: Nov 17, 2018

  • My deepest condolences to all who knew Linda. Especially condolences to Linda’s loving family, Gord, Kelly, Brett and Joyce, Dan, Carol, Dan and Jim on your loss. I met Linda in 1985 and we have been good friends since we first spoke. Over the years we have had many good times together. We played ball, attended many parties, danced the night away after the games, sat around a few campfires and had heartfelt conversations. I got to know her children and sweet husband and could see how much Linda loved and admired her family. We attended poker parties with our fellow Twisted Sisters and went to our annual Spring Training in Grand Forks. We rang in New Years together and celebrated special wedding anniversaries. Linda and I went on a road trip to Red Deer, Alberta to see a fellow Twisted Sister, Jeannie in the 1990’s and we drove the coast of California in 2012. I have so many happy memories for the times we were together. For years, Linda hosted a Christmas party for the Twisted Sisters on the first Sunday in December. Some teammates have given her the name of Ms. Claus. She would take the first week of November off from work in order to decorate her home for the festive season. Her and Gord hung garland with Christmas lights around the entire living room. It looked like the North Pole at their home. For me going to Linda’s home was the event that symbolized the beginning of Christmas. Linda had a kind and loving heart and a playful spirit. Linda was a true friend and I am grateful that I was blessed to be her friend and that we had these times together. I know that she is at peace and an angel now. I pray that her family are comforted in knowing that Linda loves and was proud of them all. May everyone who misses her cherish their memories of the times they had together forever. 💝 - Posted by: Wanda (Friend and Twisted Sister) on: Nov 17, 2018

  • Our son, Stephen was a Manitoba gymnast for years. I was also involved in several areas of the MGA. Linda was always so supportive of our son and myself. Men's gymnastics were sometimes overshadowed by the talented young females. Linda always treated the boys with the same respect and attention, even thought they were so few in number. I loved working with Linda so much, and stayed in touch even after we moved to the USA. She will be missed so much. I was so sorry to hear of her passing. - Posted by: Sydney Tetrault (Friend) on: Nov 17, 2018
