FRANK PETER LETKEMAN August 24, 1926 - November 16, 2018 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our father Frank Letkeman on Friday, November 16. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Elvira, in 2013, brother Erwin, and sisters, Wilma and Mary. Lovingly remembered by his children, Gary (Lynn), Leslie (Phil), Deborah (Dennis), Sandra (Glenn) and Tamara (Mike), and grandchildren, Holly, Ian, Scott, Derek and Kelsey, as well as sisters, Anne, Louise and Rose, and brother David. Dad was born in Carman and grew up on a farm in Oak Lake during the Great Depression. He later moved to Winnipeg where he worked in construction, eventually starting his own successful company. Many of his employees became lifelong friends His passions in life included hunting, fishing, gardening and of course his family. Dad was a fantastic story teller and had a great sense of humour. He was outgoing and made friends wherever he went. Many thanks to the staff and residents of Arlington Haus and Bethania Personal Care Home for their friendship and caring for Dad. Funeral service will be held at First Mennonite Church on Thursday, November 22 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. We love you, Dad.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • We moved next door to Frank on Downing Street about 9 years ago, he became a staple in my day. When I would come home from work I looked forward to see him sitting in the back yard, reading the newspaper. We are so terribly sorry to learn of his passing. Not many people leave a lasting impression now a days. Frank will be greatly missed! - Posted by: Marcie Harris/Adam Tankard (Neighbours) on: May 22, 2019

  • I was a young contractor in the same business as Frank, working along side of Erwin and him at Flair Homes. I sit here and smile thinking of the fun times, deer hunting, but also the good advice I received from him as a young contractor. Good memories. Thanks Frank, rest in peace. • I remember Frank since I was a young boy, always greeting me with a smile and talked to me with respect, always had a laugh to give, and could imitate some of my Dad's friends explicitly. (Victor Erharht with his heavy German accent and Percy Frich). I still remember the day I walked into Stony Mountain Rec Center and was told that a man named Gary Letkeman was to coach my son's hockey team. It wasn't until the time of Gary's coaching career that I realized we had so much in common. We greeted each other calmly and after he started talking and I introduced myself as Corny's son, that we realized that for years we had known each other from a distance and that we both had a deep respect and love for our dads. Our dads were best friends for years, and Gary and I came to see that and also became close. My dad has been gone for 23 years, and the only consolation to your dad's passing is that he once again has his best friend and hunting partner by his side. Our deepest sympathy to you Gary, Lynn, Scott, Holly, and the rest of your family. Your friends, Ed, Grace, Brad,& Carlene - Posted by: Ed & Grace Martens (Friends) on: Nov 20, 2018

  • My family was Frank's (Letkeman Family) neighbour for 45 years. Frank was the best neighbour anyone could ask for. Always had lots to say - he would talk about the football games or get us to read an obituary of one of his friends. Even after we all moved we tried to keep in touch. Rest in peace Frank you will be missed. - Posted by: Ron & Shirley (Neighbour) on: Nov 20, 2018

  • I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Frank is the last one in that generation for us. I will always remember all of those Christmas Eve's spent at your house and Aunt Helen's. Those were such good memories. He was such a good caregiver to your Mom those last years. I visited with my Mom a few times and he made those visits fun. All of that generation gave us a great childhood and I will never forget them for that. - Posted by: Shelley Derksen (Niece) on: Nov 20, 2018
