KRISTINE FRIESEN (née PENNER) 1933 - 2018 Kristine Friesen (née Penner) of Winnipeg, MB, went to be with the Lord, on November 20, 2018, at the age of 84. She leaves behind her husband, Harry; son Rick (Linda) Friesen; daughter Renée (Warren) Barclay; and grandchildren Jared, Aaron, Jordyn, Brad; and three great-grandchildren, as well as seven siblings. Kristine embraced life whether she was teaching in the classroom, babysitting her grandchildren, or preparing homemade meals for her family and friends. Kristine was born in Morden, MB on December 13, 1933 and met her husband of 63 years in Reinfeld where she had been stationed as a young teacher. The couple settled in Winnipeg to raise their family. Kristine thoroughly enjoyed the 35 years she spent as an elementary school teacher. She found teaching to be fulfilling and satisfying and she was always grateful to her older siblings for supporting her in pursuing higher education. Although the last decade presented many health issues for Harry and Kristine as a couple, they enjoyed many blessings together in these times of trial and grew even closer to each other and to God. Her passing will leave a void in our family but we're so grateful to have had her these many years. We love you mom and are comforted knowing that you are seated at Christ's banquet table with no more pain. Kristine's funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Good News Mennonite Church, 2764 Ness Avenue in Winnipeg. Viewing will be on Saturday at the church prior to the service and from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Wiebe Funeral Home, 121 8th Street in Winkler. A graveside service and interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 25 at Westridge Memorial Gardens in Winkler. Kristine and her family appreciated the outstanding care she received from Dr. Roger Suss and the palliative care teams at St. Boniface Hospital and Riverview Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to either hospital foundation. Wiebe Funeral Home, Winkler In care of arrangements wiebefuneralhomes.com
