Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARYELLEN YASKIW The angels of Heaven have escorted MaryEllen Yaskiw to meet the Lord and to be reunited with her beloved husband Rick, daughter Sally, and parents, Robert and Stella Morrison. MaryEllen passed away at home on November 22, 2018. MaryEllen Yaskiw (nee Morrison) was born in Belleville, Ontario on December 21, 1947. Ironically, MaryEllen shared the same birthday as her husband Rick. MaryEllen met Rick while he was visiting a friend next door to her home in Belleville. She fell for the charming RCMP officer, whom she soon married. MaryEllen and Rick were married in Belleville and then moved to Fort St. John, BC to start a family. Three children later (all under five), they moved to Gimli, Manitoba where they raised their family. In 2008, MaryEllen was widowed and was met with a new challenging chapter in her life. In an instant, she went home to meet our Jesus. "Absent from the body, present with the Lord." When asked to describe Maryellen, our dad (Rick) used to say, "Your mom has a heart of gold." Truly she did. Anyone who had the wonderful privilege of knowing her could intimately agree with that. You have been a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, Nana and friend. Immediate family members are: late husband Rick, (son) Greg Yaskiw and girlfriend Shannon Dueck, (daughter) Stella Gent and husband Darryl Gent and son William, and her late daughter Sally Yaskiw, and her grandchildren, Sadie and Brayden Yaskiw. MaryEllen also leaves behind (sister) Valerie Jean McKay (widowed Scott Mckay), (brother) Bob Morrison, and his daughter Angie. Family from husband Rick's side include; Ron and Pat and daughter Susan Yaskiw, Colleen Yaskiw (widowed Jake) with children, Faren (children, Blythe and Lemon) and Nolan (children, Skylar and Scarette), and lastly Bob and Lynne Yaskiw with children, Kelly and Steven. We will miss you but will see you again someday. Funeral service will be held Friday, November 30, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at Gimli Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church Cemetery, south west of Gimli at the end of Willow Creek Road. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the church.

Mary Ellen was like another mother to me. She partly raised me, and she was there for me. She was very loving towards me, and she always cared and admired every breath I took. She is dearly missed by her family, including me. I love you Nana. May you Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Sadie Yaskiw (Granddaughter ) on: Feb 02, 2019

I have lived on the same street as Maryellen for over 35 years. I babysat the kids when I was a teenager and am very sad to hear of her loss. She had a wonderful laugh and was as sweet a person as you could ever hope to meet. For many years she was involved in selling daffodils for the Cancer society. Maryellen took great pride in her yard. I feel blessed to have known her. Condolences from my family to hers. - Posted by: Janet McDougall (Neighbor) on: Dec 07, 2018
