Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSALIE SHAPIRO Rosalie passed away peacefully, at her home, on November 1, 2018, with family by her side, after a brief illness. Mother to Carla Shapiro, Penny (Joel Shefrin) and Jack (Lyn Barnwell) Shapiro. She was predeceased by her husband Fred Shapiro, parents, Jack and Bertha Fox, sister Clarice Garbuz, and son-in-law Barney Sneiderman. She leaves behind to mourn her loss grandchildren, James (Jess) Globerman, Jason Globerman, Miriam and Robby Sneiderman, and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Mya, Memphis, Maddox, Abby, Seth, Livia and Frances. Born in Winnipeg on January 2, 1933 Rosalie spent her early years in the small town of Benito, Manitoba. As a teenager, she was sent to live with family in Winnipeg where she attended St. John's High School and went on to become an X-ray technologist at Mount Carmel Clinic. Later in life she pursued her dream of attending the University of Manitoba to become an elementary school teacher. Rosalie was a loving wife and caregiver for many years to her late husband Fred as well as a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Celebrating holidays and birthdays were very important to her and she will be remembered by all for her baking and family meals. Funeral services were conducted by Bill Weissmann on November 4 at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue with interment following at the Rosh Pina Memorial Park. Pallbearers were grandson James Globerman, cousins, Charles Tax and Sheldon Earn, and dear friends, Irwin Corobow, Martin Tadman and Morley Wiseman. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Brent Young for his care over the years, the staff at the Shaftesbury, especially nurse Jan, Heather at the Simkin Centre Adult Day Program, her regular home care attendants who provided her with the opportunity to maintain her dignity and independence, and the CNIB who provided her with a variety of helpful resources. Those wishing to honour her memory may make a donation to the CNIB or a charity of their choice.

Rosalie was my patient for about the last 15 years. I always enjoyed seeing her at her regular medical appointments. She had a great sense of humour and we had many good laughs. I found her to be a very pragmatic person and she rose to the challenges that came her way as she aged.
