STELLA LYNNE COOK October 29, 1921 - November 27, 2018 Stella Cook, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother/nana and longtime resident of The Westhaven, peacefully passed away at the age of 97. Stella is predeceased by her parents, Agnes and Sam Sowany, her four siblings, her beloved husband of 59 years, Paul Cook, her daughter Paulette and son-in-law Sam McConnell. Stella will be forever cherished by her daughter Connie, son-in-law Larry Butler, and grandsons, Curtis and Clint Butler (Jaimie Creasy). Stella is also lovingly remembered by her grandson Brendan McConnell, granddaughter Colleen Headland (Curtis) and great-grandchildren, Grace and Caden. Stella dedicated her life to her family and volunteering. Her happiest times were spent at the cottage with her family and cruising around the world with her with husband (13 cruises in all). She was a devoted volunteer for various organizations including the March of Dimes and served as the President of Isaac Brock Community Club. She also spent many hours working with disabled children. Stella's success in living a long life is attributed to staying active, swimming with her special group of longtime friends and getting deals at garage sales. She was young at heart and loved a good game. Her favourites included playing cards, winning at bingo, and watching curling. Although she loved the interaction of playing cards with her friends and family, she was playing to win. We will always cherish and remember Stella as the genuine and relatable soul that she was. People from all walks of life were attracted to Stella's wit, sense of humour and ability to tell you what she really thought. Nana had a special place in her heart for her great-grandchildren, Grace and Caden. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Stella's life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers or donations, Stella would have wanted you to enjoy a game of cards or bingo with friends and family.
