Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE MARIE ALVINA ROUX (LANOIE) (a.k.a. MAGIC) November 11, 1943 - November 22, 2018 There are really no words that could ever do justice to describe the beautiful, strong and radiant woman that was Magic. She was a true bright light, a rare spirit that brought happiness and laughter wherever she went; who lit up every room with her contagious laughter and joie de vivre. She saw the beauty in everyone and found the fun in everything and made everything more fun when she was around. She was known as "Magic" for her ability to fix almost anything, but I think it was her ability to make everyone smile when they saw her, which was truly her most magical trait. She could always find the humour in the most bleak situations. Her wonderful, offbeat and unforgettable sense of humour will always be remembered. She was a wild child, a hippie and a gypsy at heart. She loved nothing more than being in nature, travelling and exploring. Everything to my mom was one big adventure. She was full of funny stories from her cherished years growing up in the country with her beloved sister Peter (Marie Rein), brothers, Johnny and Rene, her beautiful mother Mary Jane (pictured above, right) and father Hyacinthe. There was no one quite like her, always with a twinkle in her eye and a mischievous smile that kept you on your toes. She was the kind of person we need more of in the world. People like her are like diamonds, hard to find and impossible to forget because she shined so brightly. Her endless patience and love was only matched by her generosity; she was truly the most selfless person you'd ever meet. Never one to complain, she had her family convinced for 50 odd years she liked red wine, because she was simply too polite to say otherwise. I will never forget the love she showed me and everyone around her, her funny stories, French songs and how she could turn everything into a game. She was a brilliant woman; with whom you could talk science, history or politics. She was known for her love of Robin Hood, Merlin, dragons and all things Scottish. Her biggest dream being to go to Scotland one day; a dream I hope to realize by bringing some of her ashes there. She was truly a beautiful woman inside and out; an epitome of hope and strength and a fighter in the face of a challenge. She was a passionate mama bear who would do anything for her kids and she was truly an inspiration to me and all those who knew her. She had unmatched determination and willpower; when she set her mind, nothing could stop her, like when she climbed to the top of Mt. Machu Picchu a few years ago in her 70s. She was a kid at heart and lived every moment and every day to the fullest. She touched every soul she met and left beautiful footprints on our hearts. There will never be such a special person and it is a true loss to all those who loved her and all those who were not fortunate enough to meet her beautiful soul. She is survived by her loving daughter, Brittany Lavalle, who will always keep her memory alive.

Gary, Rose's son and I have so many memories with Magic (Rose) such as going camping to Whiteshell and always having bear issues. Walking down the trails and having to turn back and start running to the truck as a bear was coming our way. That was one of our inside jokes about the outdoors, bears loved us. She loved spending time in the woods. I have known the family since I was 17 years old and have built a good relationship with Rose's daughter Lauren who has some of Magic's love for adventure. We loved having family get togethers, BBQ's. Magic said Gary cooked the best steaks. Rose was a fantastic cook and baker. She taught me how to cook when Gary and I got married as he said his mother was the best cook ever. She was always happy to spend time with us. Magic and Gary could talk about so many things such as politics, current events, space etc as she was a really intelligent lady. She loved to see and play with Gary's remote trucks. She was blessed to have Jim come into her life a few years ago, he made her so happy. Gary would be talking to Rose and he would see the twinkle in her eyes whenever she mentioned Jim's name. Jim and Magic talked for hours about their children and grandchildren. Rose had a very colourful life and moved a lot so she had so many interesting stories to tell. We got to a spend of time with Jim over the last few weeks and can see why he became such a big part of her life. Rose (Magic) It has been wonderful to know you and as I always said, I am so thankful for you as if it was not for you I would not have the love of my life your son Gary. You will be truly missed by all the people you touched. xoxo - Posted by: Michele Roux (daughter in law) on: Dec 10, 2018 - Posted by: Michele Roux (Daughter in law) on: Dec 10, 2018

I have had the pleasure of knowing Rose (Magic) as I am married to her son Gary. We had so much fun going camping together and seamed to always have bear issues. Also having family BBQ's where she was would always say that Gary cooked the best steak. She taught me how to cook when I first got married to Gary as Gary always said he loved his mothers cooking. The last outing we had was when I brought her to the casino. Magic had no idea how to play the machines, so when I was beating 88 cents when it was her turn to hit the button her was pressing $8.80. We laughed so hard once we figured out what she was doing. She always enjoyed her visits with Gary as they could talk about anything thing. Both Gary and I are going to miss you Mom. - Posted by: Michele (Daughter in law) on: Dec 10, 2018

I worked with Magic in the 80's. Seems like so long ago. She was a free spirited bundle of energy who brought her unique and positive energy with her every day. I will always remember her two great loves, her daughter, and her home in LaSalle. The world needs more Magic. Sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Jeff McMaster (co-worker) on: Dec 08, 2018
