ISOBEL (JEAN) HIGHMOOR Isobel "Jean" Highmoor passed away at the Grace Hospital on November 25, 2018. Jean was born November 10, 1935 in Norwich, England, the youngest daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret (Cairns) Highmoor. She was predeceased by her sisters and their husbands, Elizabeth (Dennis) Brewster and Judith (Tony) Vigne. She was a much loved "Auntie Jean" to Elizabeth's family: Paul and Debbie - Ruth (Carter), Samuel and Thomas Brewster, Margaret and Robert - Sarah (Killick), Rebecca (Medlock) and Helen (Rich) Pimm; Jennifer and Andy - Edward and Mary Lawrence and Judith's family: Richard and Sarah Vigne - Ellie and Georgie Jones-Perrott and James and Katherine - Edward and George Vigne; several great-great-nieces and nephews and special kin to the Cairns cousins. Jean trained as a nurse at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London, UK. With colleague Maura O'Hehir, she immigrated to Thunder Bay in 1963. Joined by friend Ruth (Lloyd) From, Jean moved to Winnipeg in 1966, working for the balance of her career at the Winnipeg General Hospital, (later the Health Sciences Centre), retiring in 1995. Her career was exemplary, as a general duty nurse, a proud alumnus of "GH7" (as a staff nurse and head nurse), an Assistant Director of Nursing and lastly, as a member of the Quality Assurance team. She was an active and respected life member of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society and in her retirement, a volunteer with the Grace Hospital Foundation. Jean was one of the founding volunteers for Folklorama's "Mug Pub" and enjoyed computers, knitting, theatre, reading, puzzles, walking and travel. Her travels took her across Canada, home to the UK and around the world. For their friendship and personal and professional support Jean would like to thank: friend Fran and the Fahners (her Canadian family); fellow members of the R.S.C.D.S.; Health Sciences Centre colleagues, especially Marilyn Bruce; her neighbours, Carol, Charlotte and Abbie; staff of the Grace Hospital Foundation; Dr. R.
