Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORNA CHRISTINE JOHANNSON Beloved mother, sister and daughter, passed away on September 10, 2018 in Laguna Hills, CA at the age of 85. She was preceded by her son, Charles A. McPhee in 1990. Chris, as she was known by her friends and loved ones, will be lovingly remembered by her two remaining children: Daria and Andrew Beale (Rachel), Lawrence and Martha McPhee (Alissa and Jeff Paulson (Asher and Tobby), Jonathon and Mila Jenkins, Jennifer Stone, and Andrew Stone). Chris grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba with four siblings. After graduating from Gordon Bell High School, she joined the Canadian Air Force. She was stationed in Quebec with the 72 fighter group. There she met her husband, Charles J. McPhee. They married in 1954 and had three children: Daria, Charles and Lawrence. While in the Air Force, they were stationed in Burbank, CA for a year and they discovered it doesn't snow here. So in 1962 they moved from Calgary, Alberta to Southern California. Chris went to Cal State Northridge and earned a degree in Business Administration. She became an auditor for the State of California. Chris was a devoted mother to her children. She cared for her son Charlie when he became ill with a terminal disease. She loved to go camping, motorcycle racing, parachuting and taking trips. She always found time to return to Canada to attend weddings, family reunions and Icelandic celebrations in Gimli. She loved crafts, knitting and sewing. She retired from the state in 2005. From a young age she was a voracious reader. She was always picking up new books at the library and dropping off old ones. "Mom was loved by her family and will be dearly missed."
