DOROTHY MOREEN MACFADYEN Peacefully, after a brief illness, Dorothy Moreen MacFadyen (nee Reed) passed away. She was predeceased by her husband and our father, Lynn Neil MacFadyen (2015), her father and mother George Henry Reed and Gertrude Isom Reed, sisters, Hazel and Betty, and brother Dennis. Left to mourn are her children, Neil (Alice), Dana McWhirter (Wayne), Paul (Debbie), Carol Jensen, and her grandchildren, Ryan, Kyla (Jared), Christopher, Megan, Leigh, Drew, Kaitlyn; also, her sister Donna, and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Winnipeg on November 19, 1932. She graduated from St. James Collegiate, then entered the School of Nursing program. From there Mom joined the R.C.A.F., leaving Winnipeg for Baden-Soellingen, 4 Wing. It is there where she met young Flt. Lt. Lynn MacFadyen. Mom and Dad were married shortly after that, August 14, 1954. In 1956 they headed to Calgary with first born Neil, where Dad started work as a civilian. Together they raised four children. Over 61 years of marriage Mom and Dad lived in many places including Calgary, Montreal and San Francisco. When Mom returned to Winnipeg two and half years ago, she said had come full circle. She passed away at the Grace Hospital, two blocks from her childhood home and close to her childhood church, St. Andrews Anglican, surrounded by her children. Mom always said "By the grace of God go I". May you rest eternally in the arms of the Lord Mom. We love you very much. The family deeply appreciates the care given to Mom by the staff at the Grace Hospital, Dr. Kramer, Dr. Homik, Dr. Hamidani, nurses and aides. Their compassion will always be remembered.
