LEW BOHDAN MARTYNEC It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lew Martynec on December 7, 2018. Lew was born on December 14, 1934 in Paris, France. He was a strong loving man, deeply devoted to his friends and loved ones and was affectionately known as "Machine Gun Lew." Lew loved the outdoors, summer and winter, skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, fishing, hunting, flying airplanes and skydiving. He studied engineering at the University of Manitoba and subsequently worked for the City of St. Boniface and later for the City of Winnipeg as a department manager for construction plan approval of streets and various other utilities. His parents, Irena and Volodymyr Martynec, were both born in the Ukraine in 1899. His father was an author and wrote many books dealing with politics as well as the German and Russian oppression of the Ukraine. Lew touched many lives and will be sadly missed by his friends. May he sleep in peace. Visitation is being held at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg.
