ALLAN HEAMAN It is with sadness we announce the passing of Allan on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Misericordia Health Center at the age of 82. Born June 16, 1936, Allan was the first child to Wes and Ellen Heaman. He attended Joslin School, Virden Collegiate and completed his education by receiving a diploma in Agriculture at the University of Manitoba. One of Allan's great passions was farming. He took over the family farm from his dad in October, 1965, when he married Joyce. He farmed up until 2002 when he retired to Virden and over the years took great pride in tending his crops and raising his livestock. Allan was very talented in fixing things and many hours were spent working in his shop on the farm. Over the years Allan belonged to several organizations including Virden United Grain Growers, Valleyview Co-op, Wallace United Church and St. Paul's United Church and held various board and committee positions in them. In retirement Allan and Joyce were very active in square dancing and belonged to several dance clubs in Western Manitoba. Allan also enjoyed a lot of time landscaping and working in their large yard in town. While living in Virden Allan also volunteered many hours working for the Communities in Bloom and belonged to the Virden Lions Club. He enjoyed the fellowship and friendship of the members and could often be found working on many of their projects in the community. He was honoured with their Melvin Jones Fellowship award. Allan and Joyce moved to the Seine River Retirement Residence in Winnipeg in 2015 and made many friends there. Allan was delighted to be closer to and spend more time with his granddaughters, Emma and Alexis. In recent weeks Allan spent time at St. Boniface Hospital and Misericordia Health Center and the family wishes to thank the many nurses and staff that provided care to him during his stays on 4B at St. Boniface and the 6th floor at Misericordia. Allan was a humble, kind and gentle soul and leaves to cherish his memory his wife Joyce; children, Valerie and Ross (Michelle); his granddaughters Emma and Alexis; his sister Shirley (Barry); nieces, Lori (Ron) and Colleen (Wayne); and nephews, Dalwyn and Lyle. He was predeceased by his parents Wes and Ellen Heaman. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul's United Church in Virden on Monday, December 17, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. G.R. Carscadden Funeral Chapel, Virden, in care of arrangements.
