GERALDINE (JEAN) MACLEOD (nee RYAN) December 5, 1930 - December 4, 2018 It is with sadness we announce that mom passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, a day before her 88th birthday, at Middlechurch Personal Care Home. Left to mourn are her children, Ken MacLeod (Debbie), Dawn Falkowski (Brian), Jay MacLeod (Eileen), Thea Cadorath (Rick), grandchildren, Sandra, Krystin and Jackie, great-grandchildren, Aiden and Ethan. Mom was one of seven children; she leaves behind her twin brother Alfie Ryan and her sister Margaret Zaporzan. Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg. She grew up in the West End attending St. Edwards and Daniel McIntyre schools. She married in 1953 and after a short time in Kenora moved to Transcona where the family lived for many years. Mom loved the beach. As a child, she enjoyed swimming and playing at the family cottage in Winnipeg Beach; the later with her family on summer holidays at LacLu and Paddy Lakes in Ontario. Her love of nature and the magic of its colors always made Mom comment on the beauty surrounding us. She loved the autumn drives through the parks and December trips into neighbourhoods with Christmas lights. In the 70's Mom and the family took up water skiing, and later she learned to downhill ski. Mom also curled for one year, saying that no one ever told her to aim at the broom when throwing her rocks, so she just threw them all down the middle. She loved music, especially the Four Tenors. She loved to sing, most often while in the shower. Her children would stand in the hallway and sneakily listen, giggle and admire her beautiful voice. Her laughter and dry, witty humour were very contagious. Luckily we have some videos of these which will help fill the large void she leaves behind. Mom was always there for us, supportive and encouraging our independence. We miss you already. Thank you for being a strong, beautiful person. Special thanks to the caregivers at MCH for your dedication. We appreciate the care and kindness that you extended to mom. A private family service was held at Cropo Funeral Chapel with internment at Holy Ghost Cemetery. If you wish, a donation in mom's name may be made to the charity of your choice.
