EARL FONTAINE MA'IINGAN BIMOSE May 28, 1961 - December 15, 2018 Suddenly on December 15, 2018 Earl Fontaine passed away, in his home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with his loving wife Shirley by his side. He is survived by his wife Shirley Fontaine; his daughters, Tricia-Lee (Nick) Roulette and Tara (Isaac) Fontaine; stepsons, Brennan (Leona) Manoakeesick and Curtis Manoakeesick; his beloved granddaughters, Essence and Nicki Roulette, grandsons, Kisis Angeconeb and Isaiah Star-Manoakeesick; parents, Stanford and Lillian Fontaine; siblings, Brenda, Warren (Bonnie), Donna, Merv, Ron, Rhonda (Frank) and Sheila (Dean); uncle Norman (Verdine); aunts, Sandra (Dennis), Rose, Agnes and Freda; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends; father-in-law Arthur Malcolm and (Marlene); in-laws, Sharon (Doug) Shuttleworth, Stephen (Elizabeth), Mike (Bonnie), Al (Lorraine), Bev, Marcel (Treasure) and Blaine. He was predeceased by his son Brayden, brothers, Mark and Leslie, nephew Clayton, grandparents, Irene (Twoheart) and Joe Gus Fontaine, Helen (Swampy) and John Henry Fontaine, uncles, Douglas, Ambrose, Paul, Richard, Howard, Frank, Maurice, Norbert, George and John A.; and aunts, Lizette, Leona, Madeline, Josephine and Janette. He was raised in Sagkeeng First Nation and Oo-za-we-kwun (Rivers), Manitoba. He attended the Fort Alexander Residential / Day School, Oo-za-we-kwun Elementary Brooke School and Rivers Collegiate. He attended the University of Manitoba, and Confederation College where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree and Family Services diploma. Earl was employed by Dakota Ojibway Child and Family Services. A former Band Councillor for the Sagkeeng First Nation, Earl enjoyed playing pool, golfing, baseball, hockey, travelling, music, visiting family, and spending time with his grandchildren, and those he considered his true and close friends. Generous to a fault, Earl was known for his generosity, kind heart, and willingness to help others, despite his own personal challenges. He loved life and was very friendly, outgoing, and enjoyed working with children. Earl enjoyed his early morning chats with his sister Brenda who he phoned every single day. He had a wonderful smile that would light up the room. He enjoyed sharing his unique sense of humour. Earl was caring and always looked forward to seeing his grandchildren, nephews and nieces. On the day of his passing, he was busy buying gifts for family and friends, and was looking forward to Christmas celebrations and spending time with his wife and family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We will always cherish the time we had with him. His memory will live on in all of us, in those moments that were filled with love, laughter, and joy. Wake service will be held at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church Hall, Sagkeeng First Nation, MB, from Monday, December 17 to Wednesday, December 19, 2018. Funeral service will follow in the church on Wednesday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation will follow after the service. Pallbearers are his nephews: Dylan, Jordan, Joey, Kwinton, and friends E. J. Fontaine and Kirk Guimond. Thank you to all of his true, dear friends and family who shared his wonderful life! Love you forever, Gabaya'ii gi ga zhawenimigo.
