JOHN HENDRICUS THEODORUS JONK August 31, 1929 - December 15, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Opa, John Jonk, on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Tiger Hills Medical Centre in Treherne, Manitoba, at the age of 89 years. Opa immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands and spent most of his life in St. Alphonse, where he met his loving wife Doris and they raised their daughter Brenda. He had a great career as grader operator with the rural municipality and later with the Manitoba government. In his spare time he had a passion for gardening, mechanics, Belgian bowling and having coffee with family and friends. He is predeceased by his wife Doris (née Delichte) and his daughter Brenda Andries. We are sure he is happy to be with them again. Left behind to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Jessica (Marc de Rocquingy), Brooke (Ryan Hladun) and McKenzie Andries as well as his son-in-law Ken Andries. Many siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins are left to treasure his memory. A memorial service will be held in the St. Alphonse Catholic Church on Friday, December 21, 2018. Viewing, prayers and eulogy will begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 2:00 p.m. with Father Vincent Lusty officiating. A family interment will take place after Mass at the St. Alphonse Parish Cemetery. Luncheon at the hall to follow. In lieu of flowers, there will be a donation box at the St. Alphonse Hall to contribute to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association Of Canada.
