JAMES (JIM) HANNAH May 12, 1930 - December 23, 2018 It is with heavy hearts the family announce the peaceful passing of Jim on December 23, 2018 at the age of 88. He is now reunited in heaven with his devoted dog Keebler. He was predeceased by his brothers, Bob and Gerry and sister Lorraine. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 66 years, Joyce; son Jim (Jen); daughters, Terry (Dave) and Wendy; grandchildren, Billy, Melanie and Nicole; along with great-grandchildren, Ethan, Hannah, Gavyn and Rylee. Jim was an exceptional, caring and one of a kind man who will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was truly the best Husband, Dad and Papa ever. Jim spent 28 years in the air force and was a proud member of Legion #4. Upon retirement, he and Joyce relocated to Whytewold, MB, living next door to their best friends and special family members, Peggy and Buck. Many fond memories were made either playing in family lawn dart tournaments, spending evenings in the gazebo watching the Toronto Blue Jays or playing cards. Jim, Joyce, Peggy and Buck enjoyed trips to Germany, Rome, Scotland, the Bahamas, Nashville and many winters were spent down south. Jim especially loved the Vatican. He and Joyce also enjoyed time spent in British Columbia with her brother Doug and family. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Riverview Health Centre, 3 East, who went above and beyond in their care for Jim and for their kindness, care and compassion. Also, a special thank you to the staff and Nurse Kathleen Kinal at Sturgeon Creek 1. As per Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Jim's memory to the Palliative Care Unit at Riverview Health Centre. "Don't worry, we won't close the door." Xoxoxo

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I was sad to read of Jim's passing in late Dec of 2018. Its been nearly 20 years since I've worked with him but he was certainly a memorable man in my history. I have many fond memories of working with Jim. He was a good mentor and trainer in the T56 Engine Overhaul line at Standard Aero. I had the pleasure of working with Jim for a few years we shared the same inspection bench! I laughed at his mannerisms and his sense of humor. I recall he used to hum or sing some old time tunes like "Put another nickel in the nickelodien" or something to like that. My condolences to all of Jim's family and friends I'm sure he is very much missed indeed! Rest in peace my old friend James Hannah - Posted by: Greg Carson (Former Co-Worker ) on: Feb 19, 2019

  • I was very sad to hear of Mr. Hannah’s passing. I spent most of my childhood at the Hannah home and having two teenage girls around you would think we would have drove him crazy. He was generous and loving to his family and to all who knew him. I was fortunate enough to be able to have a brief visit with him last year in the hospital. I wish to give my condolences to Mrs. Hannah and to all the family. Rest in peace Mr. Hannah. The loss of a loved one is so hard to face. You just want to hide, go somewhere and escape! But death is something we all must go through. I know it's hard when it's someone you loved and knew. Just know now, he is in a better place. No more hurt or pain shall he face. It seems unfair, and yes, this is true, but he is in Heaven now watching over me and you! God has called him home to rest!! And he's being well taken care of Because God knows best! - Posted by: Dianne Brown (Friend) on: Dec 29, 2018
