JENNIFER JOHNSON It is with profound sadness and deep sorrow that the family of Jennifer Johnson announce her passing on December 25, 2018. Jennifer was the, very welcome, fifth of six daughters born to Eyjolfur (Dr. Olie) and Thorey Johnson (nee Henrikson) of Selkirk, MB. Upon graduation from Selkirk High School, with her spirit of adventure and determination to succeed, Jen moved to Toronto where she trained and worked as a model. She also had a very successful career in the insurance industry. Her love of the prairies and her extended family called Jen home to Winnipeg in the late 1970s. Shortly after her return, she met and wed the love of her life, Orest Hewryk. Jen began a long and rewarding career with Air Canada and was well loved and respected by her co-workers and supervisors. They too became family and after retirement, Jen continued to meet with her Air Canada friends for lunch and coffee. Jennifer was a generous and kind spirit who went out of her way to help others. She constantly offered support to so many. Her gentle and loving manner taught us all how to care for one another with open arms and compassion. Her many nieces and nephews, who lovingly called her Auntie TeeJay, along with her many dear friends and family, were regular recipients of her gracious generosity of time and help. Jennifer will always be remembered for her laughter, which was full of joy, her sense of humour with the ability to relish and make a good joke, her wisdom and kindness to offer straightforward yet loving advice and her love discovering and enjoying a good movie. Her generosity of spirit knew no bounds. She loved life and loved seeing others happy. She regularly travelled to spend time with friends and family. No distance was ever too far for Jennifer and her darling husband Orry, to make the trip. They enjoyed many "hot" holidays and relaxing together in the sun. Her love of family and of life were qualities that she carried to her developing talent as a gardener. Nurturing life in her garden came easily and Jen willingly shared gardening advice and plants with others. During the summer, Jen and Orry spent time at the cottage in Gimli. She enjoyed many walks along the beach, tirelessly looking for hidden treasures. She discovered many "lucky" stones, with her dog, Gunner, walking at her side. Left to mourn her passing, secure in the knowledge that he shared his life with a gentle angel here on earth, her partner in all things - Orest Hewryk. She will be deeply missed by Aunt Betty-Lou Christiansen; Paula and Lindsey; Judith and Len; Linda; Sue and Mike; Ihor Hewryk; her nieces and nephews (big and little); her godchildren; and of course Gunner. Her eldest sister Alexandra Jonsson and her brother-in-law John Hamilton predeceased Jennifer. It gives us comfort that they are together again, drinking great coffee, analyzing movies, good books and their relatives. The funeral service will be held on January 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Eucharist Catholic Parish, 505 Watt St. with Fr. Michael Kwiatkowski officiating. • I first met Jen at Air Canada. It wasn’t long before we found that we shared similar connections. We both lost our fathers far too early in our lives and we both had several sisters . Jen had a very contagious laugh ! A joke quickly turned to a 10 out of 10 rating , when at best it was probably a 5 out of 10 ! I am truly going to miss Jen in her human likeness. My husband , Charles , son Justin and daughter, Rachel , also join me in our sorrow. We would like to send our sincerest condolences to Jen’s husband Orry and her family. • We are so saddened to hear this news. Jennifer was one of my first-ever friends in life. Growing up next door to the Johnson family created so many cherished memories of my childhood. Years later, Jennifer and Orry helped me and my partner Robert celebrate moving into our new home and a few milestone birthdays. I will never forget Jennifer's infectious laugh and eye-twinkling smile. Jennifer was also a genuine source of comfort at the time of my mother's death. Heartfelt condolences to Orry and the Johnson family. - Posted by: Garry Robinson (Friend) on: Dec 29, 2018

  • I met Jen at Air Canada where I worked. We got bumped from a flight once so myself Jen, Orry ended up staying with another AC person at their house.
