DENYSE ASSELIN (née GARAND) 1944 - 2019 With great sorrow, we announce that Denyse Asselin passed away on Friday, January 4, peacefully, with her family by her side. She bravely endured over three years of cancer treatments, while striving to do as much as her failing body would allow. Had it been possible, Denyse would have received her transfusions while sitting on the beach in Mexico! Throughout her life, Denyse found joy in spending time with her family, her friends and her dog. She loved to travel and she always enjoyed a good laugh. Denyse cherished her roles as a mother, grandmother and teacher; she simply loved children. In the end, cancer took her from us, much too soon. Denyse will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband Armand; her two daughters, Francine Bisson (Serge) and Natalie (Garth Hardy); her son Matthieu (Carla Gonçalo); her six grandchildren, Alex, Benoit and Marianne Bisson, Gabrielle and Cédric Asselin and Benjamin Asselin; her sister-in-law Claudette Latreille; her three nieces, Hélène Latreille (Alain St-Onge), Louise Latreille (Jean-Marc Proulx) and Céline Latreille (Martin Stapinsky), and their families; her two nephews, Alan Neumann (Jackie Van Den Bosch) and Darcy Neumann (Kirsty Milne), and their families; her aunt Gilberte Garand; many dear cousins and friends; and her faithful dog Milou. Denyse was predeceased by her parents, Adrien Garand and Lucille (née Desautels), her sister Louise Neumann, and her two brothers-in-law, Ken Neumann and Raymond Latreille. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Donald Houston and to the nurses, volunteers and other staff members of CancerCare Manitoba for their wonderful and compassionate care. Denyse greatly appreciated how the nurses took the time to relate to her as a person, not only as a patient. She felt they were an extension of her family. The family also wishes to thank Denyse's many friends and relatives who visited with her over the past few years and helped fill her days with good conversation and laughter. Flowers are graciously declined. As an expression of sympathy, if you so choose, donations may be made in Denyse's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. A funeral mass was celebrated at the Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens parish church, 289 Dussault Avenue, on Friday, January 11, 2019. At a later date, in a private ceremony, Denyse's ashes will be interred next to her parents in the St-Jean-Baptiste parish cemetery.

• Dear Armand and family ,I was so sad to hear of Denyse's passing. She was a very special person who always came in with a smile . She loved her family and always had a story or picture to share. She loved you all so much and was so proud. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult. I truly believe that the ones we love never leave us but the best parts of then reside in those who loved them and live on and are remembered forever Love Jen - Posted by: Nurse jen (Nurse) on: Jan 12, 2019

- Posted by: Raymond Poirier (Friend and colleague) on: Jan 11, 2019

- Posted by: Lorraine J (ancienne collègue de travail) on: Jan 09, 2019
