CLARENCE LESLIE LUCYSHYN It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Clarence, also known as John or RTJ, on December 30, 2018, in the loving arms of his family. He will be remembered for living every day with hope, joy, courage and love. He was blessed with 73 and a half years. He will be forever loved and deeply missed by his daughters, Kristen and Lisa, son-in-law Dale Douma, and his four beloved grandchildren, Peter, Juliana, Nicholas and Luke. He is reunited in Heaven with the love of his life, Shannon. Clarence will also be missed by his Lucyshyn and McKinnon families and many dear friends. He was born in Saskatoon, SK on June 30, 1945 to beloved parents, Nellie and John, and brothers, Elmer and Julian. They lived on the farm in Alvena, SK and later moved to Inglis, MB. The beautiful Shell Valley was always in his heart. Clarence enjoyed life as a rural Prairie boy exploring nature, playing sports and flattening pennies on the railroad track. His parents had a general store which meant he was always talking with people and making new friends, which he enjoyed his whole life. He enjoyed being a long distance truck driver and he worked for Roblin Truck Service, George Smith Trucking and Kindersley Transport. He drove from Winnipeg to Vancouver and mastered the Fraser Canyon and many other routes in Canada and the U.S. He worked hard. He enjoyed the scenery and wildlife along the way. He was intelligent and observant, always learning new things and having many great stories to tell. In his younger days, he enjoyed exploring the outdoors with his friends while prospecting for minerals. These adventures continued later in life with the same friends who liked to go on day trips to set up a wildlife camera. His circle of friends was always there for him and he thought the world of them. Dad and Mom got married at the Russell United Church with a joyful Ukrainian wedding in Inglis. They raised their family in Winnipeg. He was a loving and dedicated husband and dad who cared about us passionately and with his whole heart. He succeeded in making a wonderful life for his family. Clarence loved nature, animals and having a garden. He got joy from feeding and watching the animals at his bird feeders. He had a generous heart and a gentle spirit. He was a good man. His grandchildren were the lights of his life and he enjoyed being at their concerts and swimming lessons, reading books, playing games and making them laugh. He was a proud and wonderful Grandpa and a caring, thoughtful and strong person. He was a non-stop supporter of those he loved. His calm and loving presence will be greatly missed. Clarence was a decade-long colon cancer survivor and his family is so proud of him for his perseverance, strength and courage. He was a walking miracle. He never complained and he never gave up. He is an inspiration and his life and love were a gift to us all. He is forever in our hearts. His family is grateful to his healthcare teams throughout the years and would like to thank Dr. Debrah Wirtzfeld and Dr. Adetunji Fatoye for their care. A memorial service was held to honour Clarence on January 4, 2019 at Mosaic Funeral Chapel. If friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to the Winnipeg Ostomy Association, 204-825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5 to help Dad's support group send a child to ostomy camp. Vichnaya Pam'yat! Memory Eternal!
