Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD GEORGE VOGT April 25, 1923 - January 13, 2019 Harold Vogt, aged 95, passed away on January 13, 2019 at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, surrounded by loving family. He was born in Winnipeg to Jacob and Caroline (Lehr) Vogt. At a young age, he displayed exceptional talent for playing the violin. At age 16, he was awarded a three-year scholarship to the Royal College of Music in London, England, but due to the Second World War was unable to attend. In 1948, he studied violin in Chicago where he met his future wife, pianist Jane Dever; they were married on September 14, 1950 in Winnipeg. During his 35-year career as a professional violinist, Harold performed for CBC Radio broadcasts, the Denver Symphony Orchestra, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the Manitoba University Consort of Ancient Instruments which toured North America and Europe. He displayed tenacity and perfectionism when building a house for his family in Arvada, Colorado. Harold and Jane enjoyed many summers boating on Lake of the Woods. He was an avid gardener who loved animals, especially his dog Sandy. "Hal" was a kind, gentle, principled man who will be remembered for his integrity, great sense of humour and devotion to family. He was predeceased by his siblings, Wilma (Jim) McKenzie, Arthur (Connie) and Albert. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Jane; his children, Laurie (Steve) Dutcher of Pembina, ND, Nancy (Walter) Kaiser of Sherwood Park, AB, Randy (Lorraine) and Russ (Jan); 16 grandchildren, Kyla, Scott, Tim, Kevin, Jessica, Vanessa, Jon, Ken, Katelyn, Andrew, Nathan, Melissa, Katherine, Dustin, Matthew and Leanne; 19 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Adeline Vogt. Thanks to the staff at Victoria General Hospital for their compassionate care. Those who wish may make a donation to the charity of their choice. In keeping with Harold's wishes, cremation has taken place. Neil Bardal Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery and a Celebration of Life by family will take place at a later date.

I send my thoughts to Harold’s family. Harold and I worked together very closely in the Winnipeg symphony and in the Quartet at the Fort Garry Hotel.
