LESLIE ROBERT WRAY February 1, 1934 - January 14, 2019 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie Wray on Monday, January 14, 2019, at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 84. Les will be missed by children, Karen Wray, Kevin Wray, Sandy Wray and Maureen Valverde, granddaughter Lindsay Wray (Jordan Henderson), and great-grand-daughter Ellie Rose. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruth (2012), his father Leslie (1970), and his mother Emily Wray (2008). Les was born and raised in Winnipeg and attended St. John's High School. He was a hard worker, providing for his family as a devoted husband and father. He worked at C.N. Rail, General Electric, and Quinton's before he retired in 1996. He loved watching sports, cheering on his favourite teams: Notre Dame Fighting Irish, New York Yankees, Toronto Maple Leafs, and his beloved Green Bay Packers. He even met his favourite Green Bay quarterback, Bart Starr, during a visit to Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1968. He also enjoyed coin collecting, model cars, and watching old movies. He had a love for animals, spoiling his Doberman Pinscher Fritz. He will be remembered for his kind heart and sense of humour. Cremation has taken place. In accordance with Les' wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.

I’ll miss you my friend although I’m younger now (58) I remember the stories you told me about fighting in Korea, we had the same interest like Old model cars and WW2 firearms and militaria which I bought from you in the 80’s and still have, I’ll always think of you when I take it out target shooting. RIP buddy M1 forever! - Posted by: Mike Pereira (Friend) on: Mar 29, 2022

It’s been one year since I have lost my beautiful dad, but to me it feels like an eternity. I still wake up in the morning thinking this is a nightmare and you’re not really gone. At night I look at the sky and make a wish on the brightest star I see and I believe it is you. I still cry everyday for you. I truly know what a broken heart feels like. I miss our times together and our long telephone conversations and how you always made me laugh. But nothing fills the emptiness now that you are no longer here. I cherish all the beautiful memories we have. You were the most special person in my life and I still think of you everyday, you were a great caring man. You will always be remembered with great affection, warmth and love. Tonight I will watch our favorite movie and eat our favorite meal, like you are right here with me. My Bright Boy! I miss and love you so much. - Posted by: Maureen Valverde (Daughter) on: Jan 13, 2020

It's been almost 8 months since you have been gone, I still can't believe it, I miss you more each day and the tears won't stop. I think of you every day and I'm so sad. My biggest fear was losing you and now I'm still in so much pain I can no longer feel anything else. I miss your smile, I miss your voice, I miss your hugs, I miss your jokes and I especially miss the way you made me feel. You were always there for me, and when I had a bad day I would call you and you would tell me everything is going to be okay and that always made me feel better. I wait for the day we will be together again. I love you so much dad. - Posted by: Maureen Valverde (Daughter) on: Sep 06, 2019

My Dad My father is a man like no other. He gave me life, nurtured me, taught me, dressed me, fought for me, held me. Shouted at me. Kissed me, but most importantly loved me unconditionally. There are not enough words I can say to describe just how important my father was to me, and what a powerful influence he continues to be..... I love and miss you so much Dad. - Posted by: Maureen Valverde (Daughter) on: Apr 28, 2019

Mr. Wray was a classic! The number of fond memories is incredible! Getting rides to games, tossing the football or baseball out the front...the white car coming down the back lane same time every day, his chair in the living room and his Packers!!! Really, really great guy. I know it’s a tough time for the family and my sincerest condolences, but what an amazing guy your Dad was. Brought back a flood of great memories!
