Condolences & Memories (21 entries)

  • So sorry for your loss Rosanna! Harry was an amazing person - so full of life and loved by all. He will be forever missed! Sending you hugs. - Posted by: Daria & Darren Banash (Friend) on: Jan 30, 2019

  • I came to work for Harry and Larry Curtain coming out of plain clothes in 2000. Harry immediately became like a father and a friend to me. Myself and Scotty McLennan were allowed to work together and ultimately planned his first retirement, a hockey/bus trip to Brandon (he never retired because he had too much fun), and then his second retirement where he eventually retired. Harry was a mother hen and did not have a malicious bone in his body. Godspeed Harry, you definitely didn't get what you deserved. I hope you and Larry are having a good visit up there. • Roseanna we were so sorry to hear that Harry had passed away. You both have been such true friends since meeting when we were all in the muffin business together we had many laughs lots of dinners and all round fun. No one can replace the spontaneous laughter that Harry had he also took great measure to talk with our kids whenever we were together something our kids mentioned when they heard. He will be missed we pray for comfort for you Roseanna. Harv and Pat Newman - Posted by: Harvey and Pat Newman (Friend) on: Jan 24, 2019

  • Harry was a true and caring gentleman. As a young lad I worked at Billy Mosienko Bowling Lanes when Harry ran the Police & Pal Bowling League along with a few other officers. Harry showed genuine interest and care to each of the 50 + individuals within the league as well as those, like myself, who were working. Harry knew us all by name and our interests and went out of his way to ensure we were connected with personally and always greeted with a big smile. Whenever I fell behind in my duties including making coffee, handing out or spraying shoes, etc. it was never a problem as Harry (and a few others) would 'just perform the duties'. When it came to 'community' there was no task that was beneath Harry. May he rest in peace. Sincerest condolences to the family - Posted by: Alan Dewar (Friend) on: Jan 24, 2019

  • Sorry for your loss Roseanna. My first ever job was when I was only 16 when Harry hired me at the muffin shop. I owe many lifelong friends and memories due to my time there and you were both wonderful bosses. I learned a lot of responsibilities from Harry and from that place. Rest In Peace Harry. - Posted by: Robert Morris (Former Employee) on: Jan 23, 2019

  • I met Harry before I joined the WPS when he with Bill Firman and the crowd were running the Police and Pal Saturday bowling at Mosienko lanes......he needed some extras and my sons hung out with Bill's kids so he let them join....he always took time to talk to all the kids and made sure they had a good time...when I joined the WPS in 1984 Harry called me in the Comm Centre to welcome me and over the years I found him to be a good hard worker, friend and and someone I could depend on when I needed a unit for a call whether he was humping calls in GP or was the Station Boss......I was a regular at the Bakema muffin shop on Pembina and always enjoyed the banter back and easy my Friend you will be missed and remembered for the good times by those who you took time to make time for..... - Posted by: Mike Ewatski (WPS co-worker and Friend) on: Jan 23, 2019

  • My deepest condolences to Harry's family. Now retired, I remember Harry as a good friend and co-worker. He was a solid, happy gentleman, and a great asset. He was a good officer and friend and should be remembered as such. May he rest in peace along with other officers who have gone before him to the thin blue line in heaven Sgt. Gord Barton, retired WPS # 604 - Posted by: Gord Barton (friend from the police) on: Jan 23, 2019

  • Harry was my first Sergeant in District 3. There was tons of laughs on that shift and I will always remember those great times. Harry was always the father to his shift and made sure the rookies got a picture in front of a cruiser. • I remember Harry when he started out in his carreer, in District 3. He was a rookie, who had his life's dream unfolding before him. A very personable young fellow, he was always smiling and laughing. Although there were countless hardships involved with that kind of job. He was a loyal friend to those he knew. Eldon Graham was one of them! Now they are chatting it up together. Condolences to you, Roseanne. - Posted by: Linda Gillis (Graham) (Friend) on: Jan 22, 2019
